Tim Floyd gave OJ Mayo handler $$?

And the Reggie Bush thing?

Lack of institutional control or not?

Discuss.

Relax; the NCAA has already instituted an investigation of USC. Reports are that the NCAA plans a thorough review and substantial penalties if warranted. The University of Southern Chicago has stated that they understand they are the sacrificial lambs for the University of Southern California's lack of institutional control and that USC plans to cooperate fully.

When the "Trojans" stop providing big paydays for NCAA, TV and their advertisers, et al. is the day they'll be sanctioned!

And although it may allegedly help global warming, DON'T...

USC will be sanctioned.

They will get the BIG MONEY slap on the wrist. Lose a few scholarships, a few home visits, and maybe an assistant coaching position.

They will not lose TV coverage and post season play.
Just send 'da money.

From what I am hearing their own conference is fed up with their recruiting tactics and violations. It will take the conference members to decide that the revenues that they share from USC's success are finally outweighed by their cheating or not. Without the Pac 10's support don't count on the NCAA to do anything.

One never counts on the NCAA to do anything. One wishes in a perfect world that the NCAA would do something. Unfortunately, we live in an imperfect world particularly when the NCAA is involved. The human species has a higher probability of facing total extinction from a rogue asteroid than the NCAA doing anything substantial against a BSC member.

Lack of Institutional control would be if USC a) failed to investigate reports of NCAA violations b) failed to reasonably monitor the individuals involved in the recruitment of student athletes or c) failed to apply appropriate sanctions to the appropriate coaches, players or others involved over whom they have control. USC if it finds credible evidence of NCAA violations after a reasonable investigation should fully report any violations to the NCAA and apply reasonable sanctions to those involved. If USC does reasonably monitor, reasonably investigates, fully discloses violations and applies appropriate punishment then there likely would be no finding of lack of institutional control at least that would require NCAA Death Penalty like sanctions. Of course, there may be evidence out there that USC failed to do any or all of those duties. Who knows. The NCAA has laid a blue-print for schools to avoid Death Penalty sanctions aznd a school has to be run by Cartoon characters like our beloved Clements, Cox et al not to avoid the Death Penalty.

In other words the National Cash Aquisition Assoc. makes up the rules
as it goes along to not affect the bottom line of the Big Cash Schools
aka BCS.

Stallion I know you didn't mean to imply this...but, one of USC's most hearalded recruits didn't justify a "look see" into his personal living accomodations, those curcumstances behind his parent's new home and relocation and his automobile? A defense tactic against lack of institutional control isn't the "head in sand" approach!

USC definitely got a competitive advantage. If its conference mates were serious they would throw conference sanctions at USC. They won't. USC will get a serious letter from the NCAA for its continued use of the name "Trojans" for its nickname. This discriminates against a group of proud ancient Greek indiginous peoples.
