Bergermeister,
Yes, it is Grant McCasland. He is a very good coach. Wouldn't be surprised to see him coaching a D1 school in the future - near future possibly.
That really sucks. Farmer was a great guy from the few times I dealt with him. Greg Greg Kinzer
SMU Basketball 1989-1993 Bring back the SWC!!!
So, how many staff openings do we have?
Who is Doh interviewing? His job could swing in the balance “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
People who need someplace to be for the next 9 months. No need to plant any pecan trees.
If that's true, that's a shame. When talking to people closer to the program than I am, I never heard anything but great comments about him and about Coach Lutz. Hope this is a false alarm. Plagiarize!

If Doh has 2 staff hires coming up, Orsini needs to make it clear, that they must be highly connected in DFW & Texas, particularly AAU ball. If he comes up big w/these hires, I'm ok w/a 5th year. I actually think we'll improve to 15 or 16 wins next year. Young team, good soph class, especially when you include Clinkscales.

I too have heard nothing but good things about Coach Lutz and have witnessed firsthand the players respect as well.
I agree this is a tremendous opportunity to add some key assistants who bring great connections to the Dallas/Fort Worth areas as well as just recruiting experience altogether. Outside of Lutz, we had a bench of assistants who did not accept their recruiting responsibilities with the passion we needed. Adding a couple or recruiters with strong local ties would send a signal to the university, the Pony nation and to the state of Texas that SMU is close to turning that corner we have all been waiting for years. Not to be greedy but I am in favor of either one of the 2 new coaches to also bring strong game day strategy to the plate. If not a complete in-game strategic mind, I will settle with proper substitution understanding. ![]()
Once again, it doesn't matter if they're connected to DFW or Texas. As long as they can recruit talent, it doesn't matter where they come from.
Umm, yes it does. At least one coach needs to be tied into the local scene. Also, we need youth and an african-american coach or two. “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building.
