I don't really get this thinking. There are two things that occur to me. The first is straight from JJ. The R&S, if executed correctly, is a system that should succeed no matter how the opposition plays against it. If the WRs run their routes and the QB has time to go through the reads there should always be a receiver open. The fact that the opposition knows you are going to throw the ball is immaterial. Of course we are not that good at the R&S but I don't think that WU's previous week's game will matter that much. The second point I want to make is this. The fact that they play against this system the week before is as much, if not more, of an advantage to us as them. While they will have had time and experience playing against this type of offense, JJ will have a chance to predict the matchups and Bo will be more aware of where to throw the ball. The bottom line is this, it will be the improvement in our defense that will pave the way for more wins this year and, with a different defensive scheme this year, we will have to wait for the first couple of games to gauge our success. The way I see it, our offense is likely to be more efficient this year. If our defense can make more plays, WU is a winnable game, as are a few others.
Hawaii and SMU run the same nonconventional offense. Nonconventional offenses succeed, in part, on the lack of familiarity of the defense facing it. Here, WSU gets the opportunity to see the same nonconventional offense in consecutive weeks at home in the first 3 weeks year.
If I am the WSU coach, I devote a day or 2 in August to defending the R&S. If things don't go well against Hawaii, WSU has a week to fix its mistakes.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Do not confuse "can't get worse" with "will get better." This is an awfully thin limb to walk out on. I have seen nothing to mitigate my consern for the defense.

Oh please, PK, you freaking left wing liberal. The sky fell around here about 20 years ago.

If we lose to SFA I'm going to have to cut SMU out of my life until we win a bowl game. Otherwise, I might have to just kill myself.

What blvd said is that it is duable to win six games, he isn't guaranteeing that we win six so I have to take up for him on this one. I would have to say that all the duable/winnable games he chose are accurate - except for the Navy game.

I predict our "shut down" corners and DBs will strangle that vaunted Navy passing game.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I will be glad when our bowl destination is named in December instead of June.

Stallion, you hit the nail on the head, if they would just ATTEMPT to throw the ball. Do you think they just might try to throw us off guard and not try one running play. Nah, I don't think so either.

No way anyone can count on the Navy game as a win...In fact, I put it right up there as probably our surest loss....I like our odds more against East Carolina, Tulsa, or UTEP rather than Navy.
We never play them well, their rushing game will eat us alive and the offense just won't have enough opportunities.

I really believe that there is a 25 percent chance we get beat by SFA. I bet they run the ball right down our throats (twss?) and make first down after first down limiting the time our O is on the field enough to possibly win!

Look, if we get to 6 wins, and any bowl takes us, I will be happy. Now, if Hawaii takes SMU, and SMU's alternative is to sit at home, that is great. But if June steers us to Hawaii when there are singificantly closer options, I am going to be ticked. Houston, Fort Worth and New Orleans would be better for fans, and Houston and Fort Worth would be better for recruiting.
