TEXAS FOOTBALL IS OUT

Postby ALEX LIFESON » Sat Jun 13, 2009 7:55 am

Picked it up at Walmart this morning. Remember them saying that this years cover was going to be "unique"? Well, Colt McCoy is on the cover, not sure what another longhorn on the cover is unique. Ok, our resident longhorn cheerleaders can pick up their burnt orange pom poms and chime in now.

It was a great choice-the best QB in the State, for the best Football Team in the State with the best chance to compete for the National Championship and Heisman Trophy Award. I'd bet Colt McCoy has a shot at finishing his career as one of the winniest QBs in Texas College Football History. He had a simply incredible year in 2008 hitting on 77.6% of his passes and now has hit on 70% of his career passes as well. He was 1 play away from a perfect record and in that one loss he personally lead his team to about 3 length of field drives to take the lead with about a minute to play. Isn't that true? Of course it is. Don't understand the complaint. Plus a Texas player has not been exclusively spotlighted on the cover of Texas Football for several years. There is certainly no player more deserving than Colt McCoy to be on the cover of Texas Football based on his accomplishments

I've always said it's my favorite kind. I find it hard to take any university seriously with a huge phallus on campus.

A unique cover would have been Colt and his brother, Mule, eating chicken-fried bull testicles.

Actually each one of the above posters are showing that they can't logically and persuasively argue that the choice of Colt McCoy was not the BEST choice for the cover. Each one of you demonstrate that you can't overcome your hatred and prejudice against Texas which in the long run diminishes the credibility of your usual nonsensical rants about Texas. Same applies to TCU. Its emotional immaturity that keeps you from being able to rationally balance facts due to your own prejudice. Under a rational analysis Colt McCoy was the only choice for the Cover of Texas Football.

Stallion changes the subject by fawning over his Thughorns, but the original post of the thread clearly states this year's cover was supposed to be "unique". How is once again showing a Texas Longhorn on the cover "unique"?

Stallion, what are you talking about? All I said was, what is unique about having a longhorn on the front of a magazine? Didn't say Colt wasn't deserving, or that Texas wasn't a great team, they are, and they dang should contend for a National title each and every year. You talk about folks hatred for Texas, well, even Stevie Wonder could see how strong your love is for the horns. My wife is a TT alum, and a rabid supporter of the Red Raiders, so I have to pull for them, except when playing SMU. But, you will never see me racing to defend them on this board, my loyalty is only to one team, and that would be the SMU MUSTANGS. Now, I am going back to the couch, and continue reading the new DCTF magazine. Geeesh!
