It's also not a board to basically put down everything possible about the program. Accurate information does not equate to dismissing/ignoring any positive news and only pushing negative negative negative angles about this program. Thats why it's called PonyFANS! This site is not called "IhaveNoFaithInSmu.com" When an SMU guy stars in an all star game...it's "well thats a lame game"....when SMU builds a new 60 million dollar stadium it's "well it so small it's like a HS stadium"....when SMU goes and spends millions on a high profile very successful coach that just went 12-1 with a Sugar Bowl it's "well how come he hasn't turned a 20 year loser around in 12-18 months?".... "Not impressed with June Jones judgement on recruiting".... "Orsini waited too late to hire a coach", "it will take years to overcome this in recruiting", "nobody wants to coach here", "who would want to come here?", "June Jones isn't leaving the beaches of Hawaii to come to SMU....hell why would he!?". Several readily admit they have no faith in whats going on at SMU, General Patton says he is being sold a "bill of goods"....blah blah blah.....if you guys have no faith then does it make ANY -F-ing SENSE to spend so much time on something you have no faith in? If you think "everything sucks" then move on.....get your [deleted] someplace else.....why in the hell spend time, money, effort, and emotion on something you have so much disdain and lack of faith in?

Kyle showed lovely touch to drop a fine long pass just before he scored on the keeper.

quick release on all of his short passes, his deep ball was his best throw of the series, showed good poise and offense management through out the drive, also had a nice option keeper for 7-8 yards.

It's still summer; these kids haven't even played one game of their senior seasons yet. I think ya'll know how much credibility I give to the VAST majority of recruiting service content providers -- not much, they don't know much more than a well informed fan who attends HS games. But beyond that, this early in the recruiting process, it's an even more inexact science.
At this point in the recruiting game, I believe recruits fall into two categories:
The bona-fide blue chippers who any moron can see is probably going to be a star in college (and thus has early recruiting coverage and offers from schools like UT who fill their classes early) and kids who haven't been covered (much) yet.
If you look at most of our recruits, it's not that they're rated highly or lowly, it's that they haven't been evaluated at all.
And, IMHO, until you get a change to look at their senior year game film and see their senior stats, BY FAR, the best way to evaluate them is to see how they perform in summer camps, which (again IMHO) we have an edge on previous years with JJ running the camps.
So while the Mustangs might not yet be sexy enough to attract the bona-fide blue chippers, I think we're seeing a lot less borderline players and 'reaches' than we have in years past.

I disagree with the entire premise because it demonstrably false. The vast majority of the best players will already have selected a school before their senior year or already have a bushel of offers. Now when you select from the bottom half of the Class there maybe a few who will surprise. That hasn't gotten SMU very far over the last 20 years. But the Top 150-the kids most likely to produce at the Division 1A level will have between 5-50 offers offers before their Senior Season. Where do you come up with this stuff? Just remember SMU got a great example of a recruit whose reputation was built late. His name is Emanuel Sanders and he played in 1 Division 1A victory in 2 years and hasn't participated in a conference victory in 2 years. A Head Coach taking a Class full of sleepers most likely won't see his recruiting class graduate.

Padron also had a touchdown pass dropped by his WR (the ball wasn't tipped by the db like the announcers said)

God, this post doesn't make any sense. Look, recruiting could be better, no doubt. But aside from winning more, I am not sure what more can be done. AND NEITHER CAN YOU, MR. MUSTANG CLUB MEMBER.
We can't go back in time and recruit better three years ago. We can only play the kids we have. Some are quality players, and Sanders is one of them. To single him out for no apparent reason is mindboggling. If every one of these first 11 in this year's class or in last year's class developes like Sanders (and they won't), we will be very lucky.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The key is getting your recruits to develop a winning attitude. Last years class came in here underrated and playing for a team that really didn't BELIEVE they could win. I think the difference this year is that the culture has changed. June and the coach's will have this years team ready mentally. It's not unreasonable to expect us to open the season 3-0. That means we play TCU with renewed confidence and could make it an interesting game. I have been told by several players that the locker room mentallity has changed. This team believes they can go to a bowl and win it. Let's just hope the FANS get on board, especially the students.
Bowl Time...
