2112 apparently showing us the same maturity that the Laker fans showed Sunday night. Your profuse use of profanity on just about every post demonstrates your lack of diction and etiquette.

Congratulations on acting like an overamped 20-something.

If you can't effectively and logically debate points and have to use personal attacks, pictures and whatever else to make a point, then you really aren't making one.

You sir, have just been marginalized.

I am going to have to concur with 2112 here. While his language is otherwise crude, I trust JJ knows what he's doing. Now the key word here is TRUST. I just graduated from SMU, and I have also seen my trust in SMU athletics systematically decline. However, I am the type of person that believes in hope and optimism. I know some of you fans have seen SMU rise and fall, and have dealt with the frustrations over time, but if history tells us anything the past means very little as time passes. From a political standpoint to an athletics standpoint, we've seen regimes and teams rise, fall and rise again. Has the last twenty years sucked? Yea! Does that mean we should throw our second year coach under the bus? No. This negative period in SMU's athletic history is only a blip in the relative history of a storied program. What's important is the here and now.

I see a coach trying to increase exposure to a program that was otherwise in a black hole. You can't go from black hole to center of the universe in two years guys. I know the past has been rough, but June Jones is the best man for this job. The position players he's recruited will fit his system and succeed (if history is an indicator). What will take time is the recruitment of proven big men on the lines. Have the functional outcomes met the desired outcomes? Not yet. HOWEVER, June Jones is building a foundation for this team to succeed. We see new types of recruitment, new discipline on the team, more exposure. I agree with all you guys that what we truly need is WINS BABY. However, after witnessing PB, I can say JJ is exponentially more qualified for the task at hand.

Mr. Patton, I am not making you a pariah. But we are part of the ones who follow, so improve your spirit.

This is typical-its the Summer Cheerleading Season!!!!! I hate summer cheerleading season. We've all seen this every year for 20 years where if you post anything but Rah! Rah! Shish Boom Ba! in the Preseason, then you are a traitor. Then in September-those BLOWHARDS that generally add nothing interesting or worth reading other than CHEERS fade into oblivion or call for the firing of the Coach because SMU is underperforming. Truly what's funny is that I haven't seen one post where someone has stepped out of line with outrageously negative material. Nothing comparable to the negativity surrounding Doherty. I've seen posts that SMU recruits have few offers and SMU's opponents have more. THat's a FACT JACK. Insane and 2112 in particular have been too immature to make a rational, logical response. I personally don't think that there have been many seriously derogatory posts about SMU's football program considering they haven't won a conference game in 2 years and only beaten 1 Division 1A team in two years.

You only hate cheerleading season because we feel foolish once our hopeful vision each offseason is offset by 1-2 wins come December. Personally, I enjoy cheerleading season because it feels good to have a positive vested interest in something, regardless of the outcome. While I may not have the same credentials of suffering many of you have, I have been a Clippers fan for 15 years (watching the Lakers win 4 titles in the process). I agree the overall tone of the football section is positive, but I am trying to address the outliers.

I know you "old-timers" have been through a lot more than me, but don't take away my optimism please. You can do your thing and I can do mine.

But has June Jones been here for 20 years?

Really it boils down to....who do you trust?

Do you trust June Jones or Stallion/Gen Patton/ect..?

This has nothing to do with trust. This all started with me expressing some concerns about what I have been seeing in recruiting and the types of recruits we are getting.

Now Im portrayed as a doom and gloomer. Whatever.

That's great that June is sending out notes telling us how hard the staff is working and that things are going wonderful.

What do you think he's going to do send out notes saying we're tanking in recruiting and my staff has no clue? I put no stock in these messages. I'm interested in results.

But I've had my fill of this talk about how close we are and that you better wait and see how good SMU football is going to be.

And don't bring how June overcame the shortcomings at Hawaii to get that program rolling. It doesn't equate.

He's in the best football state in the USA, he has the academic model in place to get the borderline kids into the school, he has the offense that should -- I say should -- attract QBs and WRs to the program.

With all at his disposal, he should do well. The jury is out on the kids he has recruited. I HOPE IM WRONG!!

When do we start EXPECTING this program to perform better?

There better be at least 4 wins this year to show something is changing.

Some of you people are like the old school Chicago Cubs fans and just enjoy being the lovable losers. Well, if you follow baseball, the Cubs fans are pretty phet up that the organization is tanking every year, and they're being tougher on the team and the front office.

So for me, I'm going to be tougher on Jones, Orsini and this team. Spare me the preseason hoopla and get it done.

I think JJ is doing an effective job of trying to evaluate talent around the state and I'm sure he has picked up some overlooked talent recently if their vidieo's are any indication. Of course only time will tell, but I think we all look forward to a day when we pick up some more 4 and 3 Star guys wanted by multiple schools. We certainly have several highly recruited players still showing interest in SMU. The key to recruiting success this year will be a significate improvement in the team's performance. Hopefully, JJ will take a chance and leave some spots for some of these highly recruited prospects for a while. Remember, it is only June and signing day is in Feb. 2010.

I trust most people are interesting in hearing accurate information about the football program as opposed to

"Great Pick-Up"
"Bring on a Herd of Lineman"
"Fear June Jone"
"Go Ponies"
"Wait Until Vic Gets Ahold of Him"
"Kick-Ass Twitter by Jones"
"UT Can Kiss My [deleted]"
"June Jones Knows What He is Doing"
"There is a New Feeling Among this Team" ( As George Strait would say-the consistent "Famous Last Words of a Fool" each and every year for 20 years.

...and the other thousands of other useless posts you have to wade through just to get some real information about the team. Most of you-and especially among the Cheerleaders haven't posted anything mildly interesting to read since the Eisenhower Administration.
