Possible 2009 BBall SF Commit

The SMU basketball program is looking for someone who's aggressive and not afraid to slash his way to the hoop. That's exactly what they've found in this long framed small forward. He's been to a game on the Hilltop and likes what the Mustangs have to offer. Which other schools are in the mix? Find out when he's set to make his decision, inside!

Sure would be nice to land a long, athletic, scoring SF in this class.

I stand corrected. It looks like he is a 2010 recruit. From Creekview HS. Was being recruited by Lutz but has an offer from UT-Arlington already. Sounds like our new assistant coach from UT-A has kicked our recruitment of this kid up to another level.

I've seen him, he did fairly well in the tournament held at Crum back in May. He's very aggressive, attacks the basket hard and finishes well, and he has a decent mid-range jump shot. He's athletic, a good defender, and very aggressive on offense. But, he is also very small for a D-1 forward, at this level he would be playing the 2-guard. At the time I didnt know we had any interest in him, but he did stand out a bit during the tourney. I'll see if I can see more of him at The Great American Shoot Out, in July.

Sure would be nice to land a long, athletic, scoring SF in this class.

Long is an inaccurate description. 6'3, 170-ish. He's slender, but short for a college forward. He'll play guard in college.

I agree with you there. Not sure how the rivals tease could call him a long small forward when he is only 6'3. Definitely a guard. But, in CUSA, he is big enough to be the tall guard in a 3 guard lineup. And would be a decent bit taller compared to our current "6 footers"- McCoy, Williams, Walker, Clinkscales.

Thanks for the feedback on his game X. Sounds like a potentially intruiging prospect if he shows some improvement this summer/fall.

Your small forwards in college basktball are usually running about 6-6.
He did look interesting. But I want to know if there are others besides UTA in the mix. If a Tulsa, UTEP, Colorado State or New Mexico become heavily involved, and we wind up getting him, that would be a nice pickup.

Not in CUSA.

It was a generalization and I was likely thinking more BCS conferences when I wrote it.

A small forward in CUSA can get away at 6-4 as long as he's quick enough to slash to the basket.

I saw Reggie play last year & came away impressed. At that time he was kinda under the radar but got my attention almost immediately after the opening tip. He is a 6'3" lefty SG that is smooth & a scorer.
He put up 24 in the game I saw & he didn't force anything.

6'3 is a fine for a SF in CUSA. We'd be wise to play 3 guards, go small, press & attack.

This team has needed an aggressive 2 that finishes well for years. It will be interesting to keep an eye on this kid. As for Creekview, is that the new school near 635 and MacArthur in Carrollton/Irving?

For Reggie it's going to be important to pick a team that fits his style of play. In a wide open, full court, press and run system, I think he'll thrive and excel. A team that plays a slower tempo and a more half court game wouldnt best suit his talents. He'll play D-1 ball somewhere, probably a mid-major, and he'll thrive in the right system.
