Reggie Brown and Reggie Geary: ENERGY BOOST

Postby PonyPride » Sat Jun 27, 2009 9:04 pm

The head coach is always the face of any coaching staff, enjoying the cheers of fans, making calls on the sideline and holding press conferences after games. But every coach knows that a team can't be successfully run without an able staff of assistants.

The SMU men's basketball staff added two new assistants last week in former UT-Arlington associate head coach Reggie Brown and former Arizona assistant Reggie Geary. Each brings with him a reputation as a solid recruiter and defensive guru. But SMU head coach Matt Doherty said Brown and Geary have far more than that to offer in their first season with the Mustangs, and will make an immediate impact on their new team.

Amazing story.
I bet they didn't have that much written about them as players.

Apparently Doh gets it and it sounds like he is making the right moves to get a good coaching staff together. I hope (fingers crossed) that this program explodes...in a positive way of course. :)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

These two coaches were so needed and look forward to their impact on the team. We really especially needed some post skill work as the bigs we have have some bad tendencies and they need some one on one confidence down low where we can get some percentage shots and not step back long two's or even three's from the big guys...some work on the drop step, up and under moves would be good and watching these big guys continue to bring the ball down to waist level when they are in the paint is such a bad habit...Bamba was always doing that and never learned to keep the ball above his shoulders down low...
