Since only two women's programs in America break even, it's safe to say the ladies traffic isn't causing server meltdowns. Don't waste my time or others. Contrary to what you believe, no matter the W/L's , all programs aren't created equal.
You're right — one of them is a winning team, and contrary to what you believe, that does matter. Hopefully the men will follow suit, but don't belittle what the women's team is doing. I can't wait until the men win, too, but until then, I'm damned proud of what Rhonda and her team does each and every year. When I visit Dallas in the winter, I make sure to see both teams whenever possible. You can't go by "breaking even," either. Only six athletic departments in the entire nation break even. So under your logic, should all other schools be ignored entirely? Or should they shut down their athletic programs altogether?

This thread has gotten out of hand. I am with PonyDoh, it would be nice to designate "women" in the subject. It would be a courtesy.

I am happy that the women's team does fairly well, just have no interest and 90% of this board is about the men's team.

Then maybe the category should be Men's Basketball. Personally I am very proud of the women's team. I guess they should take soccer out of the "other sports" category because I do not like to watch soccer. How sad that a "fan" can not recognize a successful SMU sport because they do not like to watch it. And I would expect that those of you that are so ashamed of our women's team for being involved in YOUR sport will not ever see this post because you are smart enough to have stopped reading the thread since it does not address any of your interest.

I agree with you. Loved watching Karen play, and hope the next assistant coach is just as good as she is. Good luck from here on, Karen.

I'm happy the women's team does well, but don't care about it, nor do I want to read about it. The more of you that follow the ladies, the better. I have no axe to grind w/a successful women's program. What is being asked is for the the thread to be labeled properly, so those that don't care about ladies hoops, have the option of avoiding it. This isn't an unusual demand or controversial. Its very common place on college boards. Don't make it something it isn't

You do have the option. If you don't want to read it, carefully seek out the BACK button and go to another topic. Perhaps you should start labeling all posts about the men's team accordingly, too. There is nothing inaccurate or inappropriate about labeling a thread about the women's team as "SMU basketball," because that's exactly what it is. If you want women's basketball topics labeled by gender, make sure you label men's basketball threads the same way.

Maybe women's basketball should go under 'other sports' b/c its a non revenue. The women's team is SMU women's basketball. The men's team is basketball. That's the mindset, no matter how PC you want to be. Its the way of every other message board on the effin web. Just come correct. I'm just asking you [deleted] nozzles to be courteous, not to berate the women's team.

Do not call me a [deleted] nozzle and ask for courtesy. Why do you not read the thread anymore. In case you have not realized, it is about women's basketball, yet you keep returning. And yes, you have and are berating the women's team.

if revenue generation is the determination for whether a sport gets its own board, wouldn't all of our sports have to go under "other sports?" What I don't get is why you expect everyone to cater to you, it is just as easy for you to open and see that it is a women's basketball thread and then back out as it is for the original poster to put women's basketball in the title. The difference being that since you have the problem with it, you should be the one to make the extra effort, not the original poster.

someone find me another major college message board where women's sports aren't clearly labeled and just thrown in w/mens. You people treat this like a sexist demand, when its just courtesy and helps keep the board/threads organized. The fact that you folks lump it all together speaks volumes about how weak this fan base is. The fact that you won't recognize that it's common sports board courtesy, speaks loudly. It's not that difficult a request. Until it happens, I will derail and massacre any women's thread. Appreciate your cooperation

Wow. I personally don't see it as a sexist demand; I see it as you being a lazy bum and wanting others to make extra effort to please you.

I am amazed that ponydoh keeps coming back after knowing it is a thread on women's basketball. Even more amazed that he has just realized we have a weak fan base.

When you're one of the weaker fans in a weak fan base, it's hard to see the forest for the trees.

He is obviously on a passionate mission.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
