Another kid from this neck of the woods...literally. I'll monitor him, Nichols (Bossier), and Pope (Mt. Enterprise) through the fall. Hopefully, he will play the "man among children" thing as really is required in smaller programs.

Yes, he is KK's cousin. There was an article about him a few months ago when he visisted SMU. I know Scout has refreshed one that they had done.

Troup's Thompson commits to S.M.U.
Troup athlete Der'rikk Thompson (WR/RB/DB) has given his verbal commitment to play college football at S.M.U..

Thompson, 6-1, 188, was a unanimous all-district selection on offense and defense, while leading the Tigers in touchdowns, receptions, receiving yards, interceptions and second on the team in rushing yards.

He was also a state qualifier in track and unanimous all-district pick in basketball.

Thompson has also been tabbed as preseason Offensive Player of the Year in District 19AA by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football (2009) Edition.

Thompson is the son of Jamison Thompson of Troup and Betsy Walker of Dallas. Der’rikk maintains an “A-Bâ€
