Sasser

Does anyone have any updates on Sasser. Has he been going to camps or combines, etc?

When does it look like he will be drafted?

Sass will be playing in the Dessert Classic in Arizona.

A scout said he may have played his way all the way out of the NBA Draft, although I expect that some team will take a chance on a 6-6 point guard and take him .... in the middle or late portion of the second round.

I look for Jeryl to be playing in the NBA's new developmental league next year. Not sure how that works in terms of drafting vs. free agency. Charleston is slated to have a team, so I'm expecting to see Jeryl in town at some point. His best shot might be to learn the point position, and I would expect some team to give him a look.

Sasser will get picked in the second round by the Washington Wizards. Michael Jordan sent coach-turned-scout Darrell Walker to no fewer than 8 SMU home games this year. They couldn't ALL have been to scout opponents.

Does Sasser's fall from grace help Dement with potential high profile players in the future? 'See what happens when you go off on your own and freelance and ignore team and coaching.'

That Andy Katz article you posted sure makes it sound like his stock has fallen. I'm guessing middle of the second round.

I still think Jeryl will go in the first round. A 6-6 point guard, which is the position most people think he'll play in the NBA, is hard to find. That guy in Toronto, Alvin Williams, is a 6-6 point guard who couldn't shoot when he came out of college. NBA coaches will help Jeryl refine/retool his shooting stroke. Teams that pass on him will be sorry.

OK, I was misinformed when I made my prediction that the Buzzards (Bullets/Wizards) will take him in the second round. They don't have a second-round pick. But in his infinite wisdom -- instead of taking a potential star like Eddie Griffin of Seton Hall -- Jordan will try to ego his way into a blockbuster trade by shipping the No. 1 pick for a pair of late second-rounders and a bag of socks. That way he could come up with a couple of players equal to last year's gem, Michael Smith of Louisiana-Monroe. What a player HE turned out to be. And Sasser would be a perfect addition to this team, since they only have four guards his size (Mitch Richmond, Richard Hamilton, Courtney Alexander and Hubert Davis) on the roster. No need for a point guard or a big man on this squad -- they seem to want only guys between 6-4 and 6-7 who can't handle the ball or rebound. And to cap it off, Jordan will revive the geriatric crew by signing himself (for enough $$$ to destroy the salaray-cap room they've saved this year by jettisoning Rod Strickland and Juwan Howard), Chunk Barkley and Patrick Ewing. That would show Jordan's brilliance -- they can't play anymore, but their lingering star power would get just enough calls from the refs that they'd win JUST enough games to miss next year's lottery - and a chance at Duke's Jason Williams. Brilliant. Head back to the golf course and the casinos, MJ -- as an executive, you're useless.

Hey Webmaster - give Red+BlueDude a prize or something. That was the best post I've read on your board.

Last I heard, Sass is heading to Chicago camp in about a week. We should know more then.

My sources tell me that he is currently in Vancouver. Sounds like the Raptors and the 76ers both like the game of J-Sass.

Best of luck. A first round pick would be good publicity for SMU and great for Jeryl.
