Question Is it just SMU?I wanted to know if SMU helps there athletes find summer jobs that fit into there schedules? I find it very hard this time of year to keep up with everything for my boys. My oldest school located him a job that fits around his classes and workouts but it still doesn't cover enough. Because I told them both that my job hires college students, of employee's through the summer but they have to commit to 8 weeks. They both said that they couldn't do it. They have early morning workout, then classes, then 7 on 7 and so on and so forth. I have a hard time as do other parents of his friends. All his friends at other schools said that they're working at jobs that the school found for them. Just asking if you know of any jobs out there let us know. It is too hard for those students who no longer live on campus to keep up with there bills for the 2 months in the summer. Sure you tell them to plan for it pay more into your lights and water and rent if you have it so that you don't have to burden your parents. It hasn't work yet. So I sign him up to referee when available.
But now I do understand how it differs from being a regular student and an athlete. It has it advantage but it also has it down falls. I need them to have internships that not all jobs offer like the one I have now.
It seems as if this isn't a big deal if parents of players don't know about it.
This needs to become a staple of our recruiting, I don't know anyone in the AD office, but I think it would be important to mention. SMU, with all the prominent alumni, has the ability to really market itself as a place where you can have many opportunities both during and after SMU athletics.
I remember the calls, my power was just shut off I need money, our room mate just moved out we need money, the truck payment, the gas credit card, the cell phone, the cafeteria closed for the holidays, the brake jobs, personal trainers, flights home from Florida.
Some one give the young man a job!!!!!
im waiting to hear about the sewell 7 "There ain't nothing you can't solve with one more beer"
Thanks expony18 I appreciate the link.
Let me make this clear for all who reads this I don't anything given I want him to earn is pay. So many of my co-worker's college kids work here at my jobs every summer. And then after graduating they're hired permanently. He's a junior now its time to think of the future. And kinda relieve Mama of some of the bills. They're my boys and I will do anything for them, but I just thought I would put it out there in case knowone knew how hard it is on both parents and athletes doing the summer. But I do appreciate the gift of an education. Which so many want and can't afford to get.

What a great parent you are. Your sons are lucky.
summer jobsfor years,i hired one athlete every summer...they worked honestly...i operate a small business, they ran errands, cleaned things, sort of a mixed bag,but some were more academically qualified and they made money for me...most graduated and some stay in touch...they live in places like new york,houston,dallas...some played professionally, some are now lawyers...it has generally been a pleasure getting to know them...the compliance office usually checked with me,as i recall, but the assistant coaches are the ones who called me to help...we also used to fix a big dinner in our backyard for groups of players and their special coaches came along...most then wrote thank you notes...but all that stopped about 5 years ago...i assume others are doing it now...but maybe not...yes,i worked around their workout requirements, but we are a small operation and could accomodate...by the way, jerry ball's comments were great..
Thanks for all the good information. It is tough for these kids to find jobs that accomodate their summer schedules. I'll be sure that Evan gets this infomation since the only real job offer he has gotten was as a bouncer at a club....mama thinks not
![]() I also want to thank all of you that have sent their best wishes regarding my recovery. I'm on the mend and am looking forward to seeing you all at the games soon. GO MUSTANGS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mrs. H

Yes, Ed Weisenski use to do a great job. I'm not sure who works in the PALS office now. I'm still working at the Aurther Anderson thanks to Ed... I shred documents and stuff.
Re: Question Is it just SMU?
If you really wanted to get into it, you should have corrected the ambiguous antecedent. You should really only go grammar Nazi on trolls and in arguments. You meet the former. Sir, shooting-star, sir.
