Each February, football fans across the country break down the merits of the new recruits who sign with their favorite schools. But many coaches insist that a key part of the recruiting process is identifying lesser-known players who don't necessarily occupy the recruiting spotlight, and getting them to join the team as walk-ons. When successful, these players are key additions to teams, with some earning scholarships and considerable playing time.
Travis Carlile has a chance to be such a player. The running back/defensive end/kick returner was a star player, elite student and class leader North High School in Evansville, Ind. He considered college options from his home state of Indiana to the Ivy League to military academies, but chose instead to accept SMU's invitation as a "preferred walk-on."
Carlile visited with PonyFans.com to discuss why he chose SMU, how he could contribute to the Ponies and his plans for life after college.

Nice story, webguys.
Travis sounds like a really impressive young man, one of those "can do anything he puts his mind to" types.
Can't have enough of those.
Welcome to SMU, Travis!

I don't think the new look is permanent. Sounds like the mods are working on finishing the facelift of the site.
