Re: New Coach with 2 super bowl rings...Adrian Klemm is the new O-Line coach / went to the University of Hawaii / was a four year starter on the O-Line / his senior year was Jones’ first year. We all know about the turnaround Jones made there. Klemm was drafted by the New England Patriots as the 46th overall pick in the 2nd round. He was around the team last year, but not in an official capacity. The guys already know him and like him. My understanding is McKnight goes to Special Teams. At Hawaii, McKnight coached both Special Teams ond the O-Line.
Re: New Coach with 2 super bowl rings...I would think this guy will be able to help us recruit with his
Super Bowl rings and being able to relate to young guys. Welcome to SMU Coach Klemm! ![]() ![]() ![]() C-ya @ Milos!

Re: New Coach with 3 super bowl rings...Congratulations to Adrian Klemm! SMU made a great choice--someone who played in the system, had an excellent NFL career, and will get the attention of all of the OL he coaches.
I'm not surprised that Coach McKnight is your new special teams coach. I thought he would be the natural replacement choice because McKnight is a good special teams coach...inspiring for the players and he seemed to improve the special teams at Hawaii when he was the special teams coach there.

i only have one gripe with him...Go Cubs! "There ain't nothing you can't solve with one more beer"
Re: New Coach with 3 super bowl rings...How are we supposed to recruit with this staff of former NFL players, NFL coaches, and Super Bowl winners? We were much better off with Bennett's staff of third-rate high school coach brothers. They were much closer to the players than these high and mighty professionals!

Re: New Coach with 3 super bowl rings...Nothing "high and mighty" about Jones' guys. Personal success goes a long way towards getting the job done. Lots of these recruits have NFL aspirations and are looking for coaches who can point them in the right direction. I think NFL experience is a recruiting plus. If they are looking to be advised by a high school coach, recruits will turn to their own. If you check out the Rivals site, thus far the 2010 recruiting class is ranked 4 in CUSA. Can't remember Bennett, with all his high school connections getting that done.
Re: New Coach with 3 super bowl rings...I think Couch'em's comments were sarcasm. Great coaching hire. It should be enticing for offensive linemen recruits to play at SMU when their coach will be a recent NFL player and multiple Super Bowl winner. I am a little surprised there are no OL commits so far. Does anyone know if we are going after any or are the OL players we wanted commiting to other schools?

I think you missed Couchem's note at the bottom of his post saying *note: extreme sarcasm*. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

I think because we got so many last year that we are going to grayshirt a couple and redshirt a couple. So we may not take any OL players this year or 1 at the max possibly. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: New Coach with 3 super bowl rings...Yeah, I missed the note at the bottom and took the post very literally. I though, "Jeez where is this guy coming from?" But I have been VERY careful with my spelling and grammar (even though I just ended a sentence with a preposition) so I won't get corrected for that. Guess, I'm paying attention to the wrong things. Duh.
