Sweeeet!

You would think it would be on TV, nice to be in an early season tournament that does not involve playing Paul Quinn twice.

Small Correction though, we are playing in the Diamond Head Classic, not the Maui Classic...

Says 10 of the 12 games will be televised nationally by an ESPN (*) , so I like those odds of seeing the Ponies at least once.

Nice looking field: Hawaii, Northeastern, College of Charleston, Western Michigan, USC, Saint Mary's, SMU, and UNLV...

Maybe we can get the dream matchup of USC and SMU for HB Pony Dad!

This is why JJ needs to get us in the Hawaii Bowl on 12/24. Kill two birds with one trip! :)

The Mustangs will face either College of Charleston or the host Hawaii Warriors on Dec. 23.

Diamondhead Classic is on Oahu, U. of Hawaii campus Stan Sheriff Center, not on the island of Maui

So that would be 10:30pm Dallas Time? Sounds like a good time for watching party with the drinks freely flowing.

Looking at that bracket, looks like we have to win to stay on TV. If we lose the first game to UNLV, we would play at 2:00am Dallas Time, and it would not be on TV. If we lose that game, then our last game would also not be on TV.

That would suck, if we lose the first two games, SMU would be in both of the only games not to be televised.

If you're coaching against the great Lon Kruger, do you like your chances of winning that game? I understand he has a pretty good recruiting class coming in.

UNLV certainly will not be a cake walk, and Krueger is a great coach. Hopefully we can catch them with some jet lag or something.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

I think we're the only two on this board that follow UNLV w/regularity. I know next years UNLV roster inside & out, and I'm not all that excited for the match-up. Much like us, they don't have a ton inside, but have far better skill players, most of which are high major transfers. Tre'von Willis(Memphis), Chace Stanbeck(UCLA), Derrick Jasper(kentucky) headline, not to mention Oscar Bellfield who is returning backcourt starter. Add Justin Hawkins & national Top 100 recruit, Anthony Marshall, and they have a big time edge in the 1-3 spots.

Our best chance is if Papa Dia decides to be a man and dominates, or if UNLV hasn't meshed all the new players/personalities yet. They have the backcourt size/speed and depth to neutralize McCoy
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

Santee from Houston & Midland JC is a nice pickup for the Runnin Rebs if he can stay eligible.

On paper, they have a huge advantage. Playing @ a neutral gym should help but its going to be a tough gig. I've seen bigger upsets before.
