Adrian Klemm: NOTHING PASSIVE

Postby PonyPride » Fri Aug 07, 2009 5:12 pm

When SMU head coach June Jones named former offensive line coach Dennis McKnight as special teams coach following the tragic passing of Frank Gansz, he needed a replacement to coach the offensive line. Jones found his man in Adrian Klemm, a former University of Hawaii star who played for a season under Jones and McKnight at UH and then won three Super Bowl rings in seven NFL seasons.

Klemm joined the SMU staff Friday, and visited with PonyFans.com to discuss how he can build on the foundation in Jones' system that McKnight started for the offensive line last year.

I wish Coach Klemm well and think that SMU added an excellent person to their coaching staff. I wish all Hawaii players well in coaching after their playing careers are over, and Klemm's NFL credentials and familiarity with JJ's system should make him an excellent fit for SMU.

Good stuff, webguys. I hear the players think really highly of Adrian.

Another super coaching hire by JJ (in my totally uneducated opinion). I am excited for the future.

And by the future I do mean September 5.....

I love seeing former NFL players on the staff . . . especially ones who own 3 Super Bowl rings! That kind of stuff carries weight with the players and makes the coaching all that much more believable than when it comes from a guy who never made it past where they are sitting!
Sports, and all that implies.
