3. It is absolutely mystifying to me that a SMU fan would complain about a Hawaii newspaper giving JJ good publicity. The Advertiser is the leading newspaper for the entire state of Hawaii and parents and recruits read that newspaper. Hawaii is a prime recruiting territory for football, including SMU needs at DL and OL (SMU has/had offers to recruits in Hawaii recruits this year). Does *any* SMU fan actually want all positive articles about JJ to stop being published in Hawaii? Or is this an example about complaining about something without really thinking things through?

It's something I can't understand either Garret, but, it's not everyone over here, it's just the same handful of boobirds.

I love it-"negative first weirdos". It must be August.

SMU has lost 21 straight to Bowl Subdivision opponents, 17 straight to Conference USA opponents and 15 straight road games.

See Ralph...what did I tell ya.....lol

Stallion MUST keep bringing up the negatives over and over again in a thread that was posted praising our coach......I'm telling ya.....the "Doom & Gloomers" can't stand it.....they can't stand a thread that has a positive angle!

Yes, and the negative sorts are really pushing for more 1-11 seasons. What's the matter with some of you people? I'm calling it like I see it. And if some of you can't deal with that then that's up to you.

Keep in mind some of these posters who don't suck and swallow are season ticket holders.

Sept. 5 can't get here fast enough.

Any articles on June Jones and his career is worth posting on the Ponyfans. Why? Because I notice that there isn't a lot of sporting news coverage on SMU football except for the Ponyfans online forum and SMUMustangs online sites. I understand that fans can access SMU fb news as a paying subscriber to view PonyPride and PonyStampede, but not everyone wants to read the scouting services reviews and finally, the DMN has limited coverage of football news period. Any articles of SMU football is and should be welcomed. The SMU football family, the new incoming recruits, their friends and family, and all future recruits are viewing the Ponyfans site as a primary source of SMU football news. If General Patton and Stallion continue to be avid fans and ticket holders to SMU football but are at times, or actually many times, negative or cynical toward the program, how can SMU expect an increase in attendance, better and more news coverage of the practices and games and expect news recruits wanting to come to SMU. I'm not saying the two individuals alone will impact attendance, news coverage and recruiting, but face it, there aren't a lot of people posting on the Ponyfans and a few negative ones can influence the casual viewers of Ponyfans. Imagine the incoming recruits family reading an article (Honolulu Advertiser) and feeling good about coach Jone, then read the follow up post on the Ponyfans by General Patton and Stallion, very deflating. You guys don't have to "sugar coat" it or "drink kool aid," just don't post on the thread and keep the negative vibes to yourself because deep down, I know you two want SMU to succeed.

What is strange is posting all the time on a DISCUSSION BOARD and never engaging in any discussion. Discussing a poor team will usually be negative.

And anyway, where was your positivity back in the Bennett years when you were making negative posts about him?

Last year, after the first phone call from SMU, I got on the internet to learn as much as I could about SMU football. I must admit that I was not familiar with the program other than it had received the DP years ago. One of the places I stopped was the Ponyfans message boards. Having read the high school message boards in so cal I wondered if, maybe, it would be different at a higher level. Guess what??? Not a chance. There will always be the doom and gloomers and, hopefully, any recruit or parent that has ever read a message board will realize that there is not much difference in the content of a high school board and a college board and take it for what it is worth.

Right now what IS important is that these boys know that, if they are giving their all, we are collectively behind them 100%. They have a new attitude and gone are those that have made a mockery of what winning is all about. I am so proud of those that have taken on a leadership role, including the coaches, and have helped transform these kids into a TEAM. Now we need to bring on the 12th man because, imho, SMU has lacked that for many years.

Haven't looked like a cheerleader in many years but it is fair to say that I'll be just as loud as one come 9/5 when we whooop SFA and kick off a fresh and exciting season.

What's funny is I have a lot higher long term view on the future of SMU Football than at any time in the last 20 years. (I meant it when I said for the last 10 years the reason SMU hasn't been competitive with its natural and traditional rivals is because of its uncompetitive Football Model-I've thoroughly documented that excuse is no longer valid so it should surprise no one that I believe we as a program are headed in the right direction.) But these annual August "blowhards" with their fascist "blind faith" mantra who can't engage in meaningful dialouge or debate about the topic set me off every year. They've been wrong so long because they don't understand what had been missing and what needs to be rebuilt. I actually think I have a lot more patience than about 90% on this board. I already realize Its not going to happen overnite with magic pixie dust-the program is going to rebuilt athlete by athlete and right now we don't have enough.

"August "blowhards"

June Jones said yesterday that SMU may get to a bowl this year or next....

Wow Coach Jones you must be an "AUGUST BLOWHARD" in Stallion's warped mind.

Sorry I will accept June Jones take on SMU football over "June Jones Isn't Coming Here" Stallion
any day.

"Discussing a poor team will usually be negative"

Oh I agree....we have plenty, plenty, plenty, plenty, plenty, of negative....so why the need to [deleted] on the rare positive story?

"And anyway, where was your positivity back in the Bennett years when you were making negative posts about him?"

You are missing the point. I am not opposed to negativity, I am opposed to 99% negativity. Especially when we have one of the top paid coaches in college football that has proven he is a turn-around guru and highly respected in football circles.

"June Cometh" also expected to win 5, and possibly, 7 games last year...

How did that turn out?

No team is going to win unless the "D" decides to tackle and the "O" block, unfortunately, we need bigger and better players to do that consistently!

The best part of being an SMU fan is August and believing that this year will be the year...So, I could [deleted] care less what discussion you want to have.

We can have them later, but for now lets look at the fact that we are undeafted and hope to stay that way.

We can all agree that the team has faults, but who cares, lets have fun and enjoy the ride, we will talk about problems after the first L...
