Webmaster wrote the Jones is "tweaking the system to fit the players, rather than the players fitting the system,". Jones always tweaks his offense, which is primarily the run and shoot," but as he stated in PonyPride's article and the Honolulu Advertiser's article by Stephen Tsai, he adds 20 to 30% new plays to the base plays each year. He has used a TE and an "H" back in previous seasons, and he also used the Nevada Pistol. Jones is incorporating plays he feels will complement the r n' s to help the ponies offensively and he is trying out different personnel to see who can run his plays. It's like a tryout, June knows what he wants, now to find out who can succeed in them. See Monday's practice-Garret's and Kull's post on the use of the TE by JJ.

Maybe the coaches are serious about adding Fleming and/or Taylor Thompson to the offense in certain situations.

Fleming purportedly added 16 (now listed at 6'4 236) in the offseason. Looks like a bona-fide TE prospect to me.

One thing that impresses me about Jones this year as compared to last is that he seems to be tweaking the system to fit the talent rather that forcing the talent to fit his system.

he looks like a DE to me. And we need Dl!

He WAS a DE — now he's a legitimate-sized LB. It's this kind of increase in size throughout the front seven that have me thinking this defense could make a nice improvement this year.

now it becomes obvious why Jones used a lot of freshmen, RS freshmen and sophomores last season, he was thinking ahead, he needed a seasoned team this year in the r n' s to be successful and who will have eligibility left after this season. He played the best with eligibility remaining, he RS a few to get bigger and stronger and to spend a year learning the r n' s, and he will let last year's RS and the incoming recruits compete for positions immediately-the best will play. OL usually takes longer to develop, body wise and techniques, so he is more patient with the OL recruits. But Adrian Klemm, now an SMU coach, played from his freshman year, so did UH's Samson Satele (Oakland Raiders center) and current Warrior center Estes, a Rimington watch list candidate. The best will play.
