Tailgating at UAB

Postby GeorgiaMustang » Tue Aug 18, 2009 11:49 pm

I know several of you are planning on going to UAB. I am certainly going to be there, and thus far, I have talked two guys into flying from Dallas to Birmingham. I definitely plan on setting up a tailgate, but I don't know the best place to do so at Legion Field, and I definitely want to be amongst the Red and Blue as opposed to the "others". Where should I plan on setting up a tailgate? What time should i get there/ what time can we set up?

I'll be coming from Columbus, GA. I can't wait to see some SMU football. The worst part of graduating is not being able to see every home game.

Go Mustangs! SMU goes bowling in 2009!
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.

I plan on driving up from Destin, but I don't know much about Legion field, the parking or other gathering spots near the stadium. Certainly there is a 'Bama man out there with SMU ties that can give us a little adult supervision !

Tailgating sounds limited. I work with a Bama guy and will ask him

Hopefully this link works:

Dear Panhandle: m My heart lept with joy at the mention of Destin. I love that area and would love to live there. Keep the water blue and the sand white.

:00a.m. for the UAB gameImage

I have been to this Stadium twice for UCF games in the past four years. Each time we were there we tailgated on the side that I have indicated with SMU.

This area was never full with the home team, they seem to congregate on the opposite side of the Stadium.

I called out there, they said lot M opens for taigating at 9:00a.m for the 12th, UAB vs SMU game.
Lot M is on the 8th st side. Hope this helps.

Go Stangs!

My Bama buddy tells me Legion Field (area around it) it not unlike Fair Park/Cotton Bowl and says if you are going to tailgate, get there early enough to make sure you are in the pkg lot area

he tells the story of the "last time he was there" adding that it has been "several years ago" and says if you are not in the pkg lot, the chances are good you might be approached by local residents promising to watch your car (for a small fee, of course). Pay the fee, or expect your vehicle to be vandalized.
