Re: Johnson/Collins Star Against Top Ranked Longview
Here's report from East Texas Expert David Smoak-very complimentary about Johnson and Collins
I attended their scrimmage as well.
I wonder how many high school scrimmages had two better quarterbacks on the same field as JT (Jeremy Johnson) and Longview (Aaron Johnson).
They're both difference-makers and can make something out of nothing.
Their defense gave up 2 long runs, one from D. Hunt, but they got a lot of disruptive plays as well.
Longview's defense looked lethargic and did seem to get hit in the mouth early on.
JT wide receiver Ricky Collins (#13) is going to be a great weapon at wide receiver...and backup quarterback David Bush will get several snaps in the slot. He's a player too.
JT's Dereck Rush and his staff can use this in a very positive way, their team played straight-up with the Lobos.
Meanwhile, I know John King well-enough to know he'll use this in a very positive way.
YOU CANNOT READ THE HEADLINES.
I could be wrong, but I remember two very highly-ranked Lobos teams who didn't finish well.
1984 and 2005...and neither finished the deal, '84 didn't make the playoffs and '05 was stunned by South Garland. I hope I'm right about that...if not, let me know.
This Lobos team is loaded, but they must avoid living on past success.
They have a huge target on their back...
