jtSTEER ....LOL...I knew you'd come racing out of the woodwork to support anyone and everyone taking shots at and questioning the decisions of our head coach the week before our home opener. Golly Gee how odd is it to tend to agree with someone that has actually accomplished something on the football field in big ways instead of "know-it-all backseat drivers" sitting at a computer pretending they know more than June Jones about how to pick starting quarterbacks?

Not everybody shares the same sunshiny opinions you have, nor should they have to. And show me where I agreed with anybody or stated my opinion regarding Jones. The only opinion I have which could conceivably have been implicit in my post is you are a jack@ss.

Leave him alone, its fun having rose colored glasses. It makes life easier and it takes away the troubles one will see in the future. Rose colored glasses gives people hope even though hope is but an illusion. My rose colored glasses broke so I cant reap that benefit, but admire those who have their glasses on for they see the world in their own fantasy not as it truly is.

Given the day you had yesterday, I can understand the sting of not being named on of the first 4. You are a young man with a bright future. I admire the way you push through adversity and challenge.

If you happen to read this, walk right back into Coach Jone's office and ask to play your senior year for SMU. Enjoy makeing at least some catches, some touchdowns. Give this year the opportunity to be football special for you.

Get your degree and then open your wings and take off for your life's journey.

Yes, you about the age on my sons, so sorry if this sounds like a lecture.
Peace be with you always.

Well said, Bus. I think the whole team would like to see JWill on the field this season.

In fact the best QB this year has just quit, and I dont blame him, why play for a guy who doesnt want you, for team who probably wasnt going anywhere this year anyway. It is so much a person can take before they decide just walk away from it.

I'd love to see your detailed analysis explaining why Justin Willis is a better choice for the qb position than BLM. Please don't JUST use statistics since the systems are vastly different; please address accuracy, pocket presence, the ability to manage the RNS offense, etc.

I wish Willis would stay around. He's been through a lot and had become my favorite player but this is about the team and the team winning. I wish him the best in whatever he endeavors to do in the future.

I wasn't going to bring up the JW vs. BLM thing, but since it has been:

JW set numerous QBY records his first 2 years, and BLM only tied one, for most INT's, and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't break the all-time mark.

In 2007, we lost because the defense couldn't stop anyone, but JW and the offense kept us in the games, we just couldn't close them. Last year, we weren't even in most games.

And the one time JW got to play WR, the last game, he caught the most passes in a game, along with a TD. Maybe JW isn't the fastest or most talented, but he plays hard, and can get open.

I wish you luck JW, and hope you reconsider quitting, afterall if the past is any indication, a few WR's will either be injured or suspended, and we'll need some quality backups to replace them!

You stated he's the best qb & I'd like to know your validation for that statement. I'm ok if you don't know but if you don't, then you stating he's the best qb is not based on anything but guessing.

I heard from a few people very close to the program that Willis struggled with accuracy and handling the option routes he and receivers have to pick every single pass play. There are no set routes. WRs run option routes on every play and if the qb's not on the same page, it's a non starter. JJ started a left-over senior qb from the previous regime at Hawaii so his track record suggests he'll use someone else's player if he thinks they're the best for the job.

Whats done is done, and it will never haunt you cause you will not know its haunting you......

I am going to say this and be done. There is no use concerning myself on a matter I have no power to control. When I state Willis is the best QB I am not looking at his practice results and what you heard from plyers who struggle to play D-1 football. I am going by the Win and loss results. Though it is a very simple, I am not giving little stats and what not. I just tells it how I sees it.

Have a fun day

JW, I had the good fortune to meet you after practice last Saturday. I told you that my family and I were proud of you and that you were my Hero. You still are. Keep your head up. Good luck to you.

I'm saddened to read this. Justin, you have been through a lot at SMU, and were a true Mustang who showed real grit through some adverse times. Count me among those who hope you have a change of heart, because it has been a pleasure to watch you play and to cheer for you along the way. If you really decide to move on, by all means get your degree — your SMU degree, because I'll be proud to have you as a fellow alum — enjoy a long, successful run as a great father and friend to those around you. All the best, #16.

1-11 with Willis and 1-11 without Willis? I fail to see where BLM hurt us or helped us last year. I can only hope that last year gave him the experience he needs to take the next step this year so that we can be better. JJ made the call and whether it was ego, coaching experience, or a hunch, it was his decision to make. If we go 1-11 or 2-10 this year, that move will look like a colossal blunder. If we go 6-6 or better this year, that move will look like it was shrewd. I'm sorry JW did not get to stay the starter. Sometimes things don't work out as we hoped. I was pleased with the class JW handled his demotion and wish him well whether he stays or whether he seeks another opportunity.

It's weird though, I just watched a video of him the other day saying how much he was looking forward to the season.

As a wise Kathy Bates lover just pointed out to me, Willis could not play another year as this season will be his fifth in college. So unless he can transfer to a lower division school in the next week or so, his football career would be over if he quits this team.
