BLM should be capable of better than the "performance" last night. It was embarrassing. After all the poor QB play, how can troops really look to him for leadership? He has no credibility with them and so now you have a snowball effect for the whole offense.

I thought our coaches said they evaluate QBs based off how they read...I remember one coach saying that when he evaluates film he's always looking for the QBs helment to be swiveling as he checks receivers off. BLM literally only did that twice last night (both times I saw the helmet swivel, they were good passes for like 10 yards). PLEASE tell me he just had a bad night and never got settled. PLEASE tell me that now he's got the crap out of his system and can now go play like a real QB.

These coaches have seen many QB's over the years and evaluated many D1 prospects so we have GOT to believe that they see something in BLM that translates into wins for SMU, so maybe he just was nervous and had a bad game last night and using Mcneal so much was just what had to be done under the circumstances. Taking BLM out may have been a real problem with his future confidence ( after all he is only just 19 years old) so maybe it will do some good for him to know that he doesn't have to look over his shoulder for Braden but maybe he was advised today that if he doesn't cut it during the game they may HAVE to replace him. It would be better taken by him rather than taking him out during an emotional opening game in front of the home crowd.

BLM was off but do you realize the pressure put on a QB when he starts aiming instead of relaxing and just throwing the football. I think he may believe he has to make perfect throws every time because we are playing so many receivers who have suspect catching abilities in game situations(except ES and DJ). Some coaches are infatuated with speed and stretching the field but it doesn't mean anything if you don't make the catch. LArry Fitzgerald for the AZ Cardinals ran a 4.6 coming out of college but may be the best receiver in the NFL! Jerry Rice 4.6. Speed kills in more ways than one if that is all we can do!

he was off last night but let's hope that's as bad a game as he plays all year. He started poorly last year and got better as the year went on. Let's face it...we don't have any depth at QB so will have to hope Bo continues to improve...or it's going to be another long season

He had an off-night...was a full-moon.

Let's look at this though...of his first 6 passes, he completed one of them. He was certainly off, throwing high and a little too far out to either sideline. However, in every case of those first six, they were catchable (okay, there was one that was iffy), but dropped by the receiver. And it wasn't just Beasley (who didn't catch anything). It was Wilkerson (who also caught a couple of nice ones later), Sanders (right in the mitt, and he dropped it), Robinson (same drill, different player).

I think frustration set in at that point.

None of the pics (2) were because BLM was not swiveling his head. One floated a little too long to the flat, and the other was because the receiver and QB didn't read the coverage the same way.

I think it took a little while for the O-line to settle down, and I think he threw the ball when he should have stepped up in the pocket and taken his dump-off route (RB in the flat).

He did not go down his progressions except on four passes...he figured out his dump-off route was available.

I think part of the issue is that SFA did a good job with their safeties. They took the post and sideline long balls out of SMU's options. I think JJ and BLM wanted to make them prove it before JJ realized that those safeties being outta position for the run made McNeal's talents deadly.

All-in, I expect a much better game out of BLM next week, as well as the next several. If not, then Smith is ready, I'm sure.

Bo's play was downright offensive. He didnt look good at all and not just because he wasnt making good reads. He just flat smooth didnt put the ball where it needed to be. Even the passes that were completed didnt give the recievers an opportunity to run after the catch. I hope this is not what we are going to see all year because if so, Shawnbrey is going to be getting a lot of carries.
