Re: McNealDo you guys think that SFA was smart enough to allow McNeal to score w/o trying to tackle him. At first I didn't think so but with SFA out of TOs it was brillant strategy. The Game was OVER as mrydel said. The only way they had a chance was to allow McNeal to score.

Re: McNeal
yes..... some of us have played organized football before... or remmber the packers letting TD to walk into the endzone under similar circumstances ![]() WEST DIVISION CHAMPS 2010
Re: McNealIt's a good thing the NCAA let him play or else we might be 0-1 with a loss to SFASU. He won that game with his running in the second half.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Re: McNeal
Sanders was yelling at Mcneal to take the knee, he looked back, slowed down, and said to him self hell no, i'm taking it to the HOUSE. LOL When Mcmonster quit the shake and bake and just turned it up he looked great.
Re: McNealThe right strategy by SFA and the smart thing to have done would have been to take a knee at the 5 and run out the clock. However, I am glad he scored so at least anyone just glancing at the scores will see we won by 8 points.
Against a tougher team though, take a knee at the 5, then let Bo take two more knees and get a W. Womack + Wishbone = Heisman

Re: McNealI was surprised that he ran so hard and tough and seemed to get better as the game went on. I was expecting a fragile speed guy who we hoped might break one. What a tough young man. He protected the ball and showed the "grit" we should be looking for from our players, COACHES and recruits. I hope they don't overuse him. We need him to stay healthy.
Re: McNeal
i disagree. the flow of JJ'd offense follows the talent available and defensive playcalling. he will run the ball. the pass sets up the run and thats why his backs can get between 5 and 8 ypc. ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: McNealthis guy is a flat out difference maker that will help keep defenses honest and slow the pass rush this year
Re: McNealWe all need to thank McNeal. He was the difference maker.
GO PONIES!!!
Re: McNealHe still had 100 yards on 14 carries, even withstanding the big run at the end.
Here's the thing I am thinking about...at that kind of productivity for that few carries, he's likely to stay in more games longer. Durability is important, and as a weapon, he's proven that he's fast, and he is durable in a game. But over a season, the fewer carries should also reduce the wear on this body, allowing him to stay in this longer. I know injuries can happen on flukes, but a lot of the time, it's because a player is fatigued. 14 carries and some blocking doesn't produce fatigue as quickly as 25-30 carries, game-in and game-out. The guy is as advertised. I am impressed and pleased. "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992
Re: McNealI wonder if we would have won the game without him............?
Re: McNeal
You can quit wondering...NO. Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.

Re: McNeal[quote="smuuth"]He protected the ball quote]
I wondered when some one was going to make note of that. Yes he did a great job of protecting the rock, switching hands as defenders approached his side, two hands on the ball when tackled. Yea I'm a McFan already, let's see what he’s' got @ UAB
Re: McNealSaunders was yelling at him to stop and hold an then loked around and then told Mcneil to go ahead and take it in. Mcneil said in the post game interview he was listening to the seniors as the leaders....a good young man and very respectful. It was also Mcneils's son's first birthday yesterday on game day so was a good present to him and SM called his Mom in the hospital on Friday after JJ called him and told her the news he was playing this year, she started crying and the nurses thought something was wrong with her. I hope this is a blessed year for the man and his family.
