Playing the Mark Cuban add before our kickoff was a downer - too many ads in general. Please get rid of the chick in the stands. She doesn't add much and she didn't even had a microphone that worked. I think the loudest cheer of the game was when they finally got the feedback cut off. The PA playing over the band is very irritating. I don't even know why they have the band there. With all the piped in music and advertisements, they never get to play.
They played that American Airlines Mark Cuban add about 8-10 times. I am not a fan of showing ads in the stadium anyway, but to show the same one so many times made it worse.

Static blasting through speakers once in a while was a negative, however I was much to interested in the game to pay much attention.

Sad thing is that I couldn't ignore it. It was all too distracting. And my wife claims that I can drown out anything.

The PA guy is awful and the in game presentation is an absolute joke. Here is my biggest gripes: • Car Wash played before the 2nd half kickoff • More Motown played after the 2nd touchdown • Emilio Sanders • Classic Music playing on the speakers • Sideline Chick • did I say idiot PA guy? • lameass Conference USA scores. I saw the Tulsa game on Friday and did not need to see the score 8 times last night. • 1 stat update • Stupid New "2009 Theme Song"
I have worked the PA at this stadium for over 30 youth games and between the mic and my laptop I can thrown down a decent presentation. Also, the speakers tend to work pretty well but always need some tuning. Usually by the 3rd game of the day SMU has nailed the sound for me. It looks like they didn't do a speaker check and didn't bother to see if the PA guy still sucked and what songs where gonna be played. Once again another horrible in game production that takes away from the game on the field.

I actually registered to post on this very subject.
Game presentation was as amateurish as I have ever seen. Audio problems abounded. The classical music and the incessant feedback buzzing when someone left their mic open in the 2nd and third quarters was actually causing people to leave. Whoever said they could not hear the PA guy was A) in need of a medical checkup and B) had no idea how lucky they were. I general, in section 202, the game presentation was ear splittingly loud.
Why did someone not simply tell the referee to bypass usage of his mic until they could fix it at halftime?
Who said there was no rap? Did it used to be worse? College games, particularly college games with 2 bands in attendance, do not need all that music over the PA between each series.
I'm all for raising revenue with ads from American Airlines... but could you get more than one?
That poor girl doing the sideline "entertainment" didn't have much to work with, but she was FAR too loud, and never managed to finish a sentence without being cut off.
There's more to putting buts in seats than simply winning. You have to show people a good time when they are there. Both Highlander Stadium and Dragon Stadium in Southlake put on a better show than I saw last night.
Now, BLM's performance and running in plays from the sideline is a matter for a different post...

The Mustang Band sounded great. Getting bigger every year. Liked the new entrance to the field at pre-game. Good Job. I do think the guitar solo at halftime kinda sucked tho.

It is honestly like whoever is in charge of this stuff has never been to a game at any school other than SMU so they continue to make ridiculous mistakes over and over. First of all, everyone has been exactly right and there is no need to beat a dead horse, but here I go...
If the DVD was truly misplaced, somebody's head should roll.
Whoever is in charge of the speakers/sound system (which is supposedly new so he will get a reprieve) should definitely check the "sideline reporter's" mic and ref's mic to make sure they do not crack, screech, and hiss. I understand this might happen once, but after it happens once or maybe twice, you would think a professional who is paid for this could have it fixed. If he isn't paid and it is some sort of volunteer position, then it is time to upgrade to a paid position. He should get one more game but if it is this bad again, once again a head should roll.
The in game scores are poorly done.
The classical music (was it 101.1? I think I heard a dj? describing the symphony that was played or about to be played) was beyond words.
Can we mic the band? It would at least have some "SMU noise" throughout those quiet/dead times when the fans aren't cheering. Also, it would allow them to be heard over the opposing band and maybe would keep fans paying attention to the game
Overall I think it is a high school operation with collegiate resources. I'm sure the people in charge have been around good college atmospheres but you couldn't tell by last night. I watched SMU beat a 1aa team last night with a 4th quarter come from behind victory and the worst part was all of the game presentation stuff in my opinion. The coaches will fix the problems on the field (i believe) but they can't fix all of the other things that keep SMU from being a legit college progam.

You know Game Presentation sucks when it makes poor little children cry. Mommy make it stop could be heard throughout the stands.

Isn’t it a bit ridiculous that this continues to be a problem every year? Maybe instead of asking donors to buy a bunch of tickets that no body used for a “sellout†they could ask them to help invest in improving the sound system in Ford. Also The fact that they have a wedding singer(robertleekobb.com) running the in game production is a joke. The administration says that want to be a top program but again and again they prove they don’t seem to understand what it takes.

I was informed after the game that the band was mic'd.

Ok - I'm posting for the first time because my wife and I went with the kids thinking this was going to be alot of fun - I heard it was going to be the best game presentation! Boy, was I wrong. The game presentation sucked and funny that the earlier post mentioned Robert Lee Kobb. I've met that guy, nice guy but he's so backwoods that he has no place for game production. For a white trash wedding maybe but for a school like SMU? No! Poor SMU, when will administration ever see the light and hire real professionals? As much as they spend on Doh's salary, they could have a real working production team!

The band was mic'd. The Game production folks have to actually turn the mics on for it to work, though.

I think they were referring to Bo Levi's performance.

It is so amazing to me that the sound system in the stadium has sucked for now the 9th year in a row. If they don't want to spend the money SURELY there is someone who will design something for advertising or charity or (for those sitting near a speaker) mercy.
