Between the hashes, we did essentially lose that game. Or you can certainly say that SFA did enough to win that game. Had we beaten TCU in that manner, or even Tulsa or Houston, I would be thrilled and take it to the bank. Beating Stephen F that way, ugh.

I agree, we were lucky to win. I've also seen us walk away from Ford numerous times thinking we should have won the game but didn't. First games are so hard to judge imo. Let's see what happens next week @ UAB.

Again, I thought we would be much more physical upfront on D. That & the passing game are big concerns to me. I did love to c us running the ball. That was great.

Let's take the W, put it behind us & move on to UAB.

Heres a real breakdown of the game:

We won the special teams battle, 10-0. We had a punt return td and a 53 yarder. SFA made some nice field goals but missed the easy one that counted.

SFA won the between the hashes battle, 23-14. Their offense clearly outperformed ours and the defenses were about even, slight edge to ours because of the turnovers we forced/got.

SMU got the throwaway 7 points on the td they wanted to give us when they were out of timeouts. It was truly a meaningless drive.

Final score, 31-23 good guys. Thank you special teams, but thats not the way you want to beat I-AA teams (yeah i know, call em what you want)

I agree, loved McNeal, loved a glimpse of a running game. Last year , i hated the way we were so unbalanced and pathetic on the ground .

What year did we have the big tent in the south end?

The year we beat TCU 21-10 and the year before that. I remember PB's brother addressing those gathered in "Mustang Stables" (the tent) and saying 'I'm tired of coming close'.

I also remember everyone huddled around the TV in there watching UT @ Ohio State.

Kind of wheels off, but the AC was cold.

The correct answer is you can't take much away from barely beating a clearly inferior Division 1AA school at home. Look at the past. The best thing you can say is its a win. Its kinda of like saying your Blue team proved how improved they are by barely beating the Red team in the Red Blue Spring flag football Game.

BLM looked horrible.Very dissapointing. If his play continues like it was on Saturday we are doomed. High probability it will. Its a surefire bet JJ will stick with him throughout the year regardless of his play. Still poorly coached and talentless as ever. I'm quickly loosing my faith
in the 2 million dollar mans decision making.

At this stage its doubtful we could beat Highland Park High School.

I would love to be wrong but I think this is our only victory.

If this is truly our only win (and for the record I don't think it will be) then you have to think Orsini is going to be on the hot seat. With mens basketball and football being in their current state I can't imagine the university will continue to support him. I'm VERY disappointed in what I saw Saturday, but I'm not ready to push the panic button just yet. Lets see how our guys respond with these next two road games and we then will have a much better idea of where we are. If we go to UAB and get rolled by 40 and then WSU beats us by double digits then yes....yeesh. Lets just hope that doesn't happen.
Back off Warchild seriously.
