Sign that the competitive playing field has been evened. A Division 1A Transfer is Offensive MVP and a JUCO is Defensive MVP. Another JUCO intercepted a pass. JUCOs recovered 4 turnovers including 3 Ints. Another JUCO nade big plays in the secondary and generally received praise in his first start.

Isn't this Rock's third year out of JUCO? He definately played a better game Saturday night than any of his previous games in an SMU uniform.

actually short changed the JUCOs and D-1A Transfers:

1, 4 Interceptions(Dennis 2, Frazier 1 and Moore 1)
2. 5 Total turnovers recovered( Dennis added a fumble recovery)
3. Leading tackler(Kennemer from A&M) plus 3rd and 5th leading tacklers(Dennis and Moore)
4. Key 53 yard FG (Symanski from A&M) plus high national ratings in Punting Game
5. Leading Rusher with 158 yards rushing(McNeal)

I used to be able to point out stats like this on the team that beat us. Changes in the Academic Model have resulted in tangible improvement in the team. Its not a stretch to conclude that changes in the Academic Model were the difference between WINNING and LOSING saturday Nite.
