Jones: must win one of next three?I understand, I think, what he's trying to do, but saying we need to win just one of the next three to stay on track on for a bowl? Sounds sort of low-aiming.
(EDIT: Not sure we should bet on six wins getting it done. Six didn't get us in in '06.) http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... 7f958.html
Re: Jones: must win one of next three?didn't they add another c-usa bowl game since then?
Re: Jones: must win one of next three?Yeah, I guess they did.
Re: Jones: must win one of next three?Screw that, let's when all three! Aim high land higher
Re: Jones: must win one of next three? They need to win the next two and head to TCU 3-0. I understand that Joe Webb is amazing, but how does one game make UAB world beaters? A few weeks back this was almost an automatic win. RIce is awful this year, so I don't take much from their win last week. Plus it was a one man show, he won't put that up every week...
Re: Jones: must win one of next three?Against our D he will. I thought UAB was supposed to be the worst team in C-USA East this year according to most polls!
Re: Jones: must win one of next three?
UAB this year could be like Rice was last year. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Jones: must win one of next three? We really need to win both games.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Jones: must win one of next three?I don't presume to know how good or how bad UAB, Rice, Washington State or SMU is after one week.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: Jones: must win one of next three?
Our last road win was in 2006 against Tulane. We are 0-15 since then. No such thing as an 'almost automatic win' for this team, especially on the road.
Re: Jones: must win one of next three?I thought it was interesting to see June address the team on the field after the game - like he would after a practice. Typically, that kind of thing is saved for the locker room. He obviously had a point to make. I have no idea what he said but hopefully it had to do with the fact that this kind of offensive effort isn't going to win many more games and they have to be significantly better to have any chance to win on the road.
I personally think UAB is the swing game of the season. If we can figure out a way to win on the road (for the first time since 2006), their confidence will be high and they have a good chance to beat a bad WSU team. If they lose, "here we go again" might set in and we probably lose at WSU. Then the brutal TCU, ECU, Navy, Houston, Tulsa stretch kicks in. It's very realistic to think that we could go 0-5. If we can steal a win or 2 out of the next 3, maybe we go to Tulsa or Houston and steal one there. We certainly have proven that we can compete with them. We just need to make that extra play or 2 to beat them.
Re: Jones: must win one of next three? You try to win them all and you take it one game at a time. Looking ahead and saying we should beat certain teams based on last years teams or the summer magazines predictions are crazy. Look at us last year. Who would have thought beforehand that our two most winnable games after Texas State would have been Houston and Tulsa and we should have won those if we would have had a clutch play or two at the end of those games. They were probably the two best teams we played after tt and tcu. We really can beat every team on our schedule. We could also just as easily lose to every team as last weeks game almost proved.

Thanks Nuke! -CoS
Re: Jones: must win one of next three?Or more likely he put a positive spin on things like pointing out that playing like they did in the fourth quarter and not giving up when behind and doing what you have to do leads to a win. ![]() SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
