Game Random Thoughts

Before Kickoff: "Feelin good, more high school drill teams - meh, ok, cause I am feelin good........"
After team comes out of tunnel: "Red jerseys look ok, we still look really small......."
First possession: "Receivers have butterfingers, Bo Levi is missing - eh, first game jitters....."
End of First Quarter: "We look awful, Bo Levi has regressed..........."
Middle of Second Quarter: "Defense is saving our [deleted]. How many times are they going to run the same commercials......"
Halftime: "Jones makes how much? Where is our vaunted offense? I want to see Braden Smith. Darius Johnson is a stud. We are getting outplayed everywhere but the scoreboard. We have 14 points and 7 came on a punt return?? SFA's band looks like the D-1 band, their team looks like the D-1 team. Student section has emptied out - nice to know some things never change............"
Middle of 3rd Quarter: "They made adjustments and we didn't. We are lucky to be in this game. We may lose this game.
End of 3rd Quarter: "I gave how much money???? Is that Braden Smith warming up? Get him in there........"
Middle of 4th Quarter: "I am not giving one more penny......" I am going postal if I see the same commercials one more time........We are gonna lose this game....."
End: "We got lucky. Thank goodness for Shawnbrey. We might go 1 and 11 again. Sh$t.........."

SFA's band looks like the D-1 band,

When was the last time you went to a high school football game? The SFA band was very high school.

I posted earlier this week that the SFA band was good, very very good, and in my opinion, they did not live up to their potential.

The new Mustang Band came out blowin' thier hearts out. That was the loudest and best sounding SMU band I have heard in several years. Can't wait till it grows to 100. If we can just start winning a few football games, this will also happen. However, I don't know where they will rehearse.

I generally do not pay a ton of attention to the band during the game, but were they used less than normal on Saturday? Or was I just distracted by the classical music and the screeching mic feedback? I was sitting over in section 201, so maybe I was just in a bad position to hear them.

I didnt spend a lot of time looking at the band but did take a look at the dancers. The fat ones could dance but were fat and the cute ones were 1-2 steps behind the others. It was a mess. :roll:

Here are a few things that I haven't seen mentioned in the other threads which bummed me out:

1st and goal from the 3 yard line took us until 4th down to score on an option. Thought our O-line should have been able to move their D-line.

We still gave up too many long 3rd down plays. Not much change from last year. C'mon, it's freakin SFA.

SMU can't control the weather so that doesn't count! But yes, the rest of the list pretty much sums up everything we suck at! :)

You forgot to mention that the location of the school sucks, the faculty sucks, peruna sucks, the fraternities and sororities suck and that it just plain sucks that we suck. Hell, we're all sucked up with no where to go.

So I was not the only one that heard that?? What about the guy saying testing, testing?

Maybe you guys suck. At least others are trying. What do you do? Complain.

Maybe this quote from FDR will sum it up:

my point is, even though we'd like a lot to be better, in game presentation or on the field, let's cut some slack to the people who are actually out there doing it. all the negativity just breeds more negativity. i'm not tony robbins, i'm not even matt foley (living down by the river-SNL joke for those who don't get it)...i'm just saying lets get behind our team and those who put the game on.

now the students who leave at half....i will say that is unacceptable if you want a quality program. we need to cheer for our boys. ohio state is not even in school yet and they'll get 105k for the usc game. no excuse there.
