More on Rock Dennis

Postby PonyPride » Wed Sep 09, 2009 4:16 pm

He said Wednesday morning after practice that the last time he had three takeaways in a single game was in middle school.

Maybe his most interesting comment came when he was asked which of his plays Saturday stood out as his best play.

"The bat-down at the end of the game. I could have (gone) up and gotten another, but I just wanted to secure a victory for this team. I wasn't worried about personal stats."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

That the bat-down was the play that gave him the most pride was nearly as impressive as the plays themselves. His first INT was right near the goal-line, and prevented a possible touchdown pass. His second INT came when he ripped the ball out of a SFA receiver's hands. His fumble was instrumental in the late-game rally that led to the SMU victory. But he's most proud of a play on which he didn't come up with the ball.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I probably would have gone for the interception. Yes, the bat-down on the last play was the right thing to do, but after two interceptions and three takeaways, that would have been hard to resist.

This is an example of the Winning Attitude. Do what you have to win, don't pad personal stats and take careless risk. He knew the bat down would win the game.

Rule #1 - WIN

All other rules - See rule #1.
Just send 'da money.

Exactly right. If nothing else, he certainly understands the game.

Congratulations on your award, Rock — now go snuff out the Blazers.

I don't know many people who don't have respect for Rock. The man always works hard and he strives to do his best on the field whether it's during practice or a game.
