SMU Postgame Notes – September 12, 2009
SMU 35 (2-0, 1-0 C-USA), UAB 33 (1-1, 1-1 C-USA)

TEAM

SMU improves to 2-0 for the first time since 1996. Wins league opener for the first time since 2006. Snaps a 17-game Conference USA losing streak. Snaps a 15-game road losing streak.

SMU had 4 interceptions and now has 9 for the season. The Mustangs had 8 picks during the 2008 season.

Mustangs play at Washington State next week; Saturday, September 19

INDIVIDUAL

Chris Banjo - His interception in the first quarter was his first of the season, second of his career.

Cole Beasley - His 6 yard TD catch in the second quarter was his first of the season and fourth of his career

Derrius Bell - Interception in the second quarter was the second of his career

Rock Dennis - His interception in the second quarter was his third of the season and fourth of his career

Kevin Grenier – First career fumble recovery

Chase Kennemer
- Tied his career high with 11 tackles
- Set a career mark with 1.5 tackles for loss

Shawnbrey McNeal - His 19 yd TD run with 4:09 left in the fourth quarter was his second of the season and fifth of his career

Bo Levi Mitchell
- Finished 28-47 for 353 yards with 3TD and 2 INTs
- At halftime, had 223 yards passing with 3 TDs after just 202 yards and 1 TD against Stephen F. Austin
- Had 3 passing TDs, now has 28 for his career
- This is his sixth career game with 3 or more passing TDs
- Had his fifth career 300-yard passing game

Taylor Reed - Had his first career interception; getting the pick in the end zone with 14:44 left in the fourth quarter

Aldrick Robinson
- His 32-yard TD reception in the second quarter was his first of the season and 12th of his career
- He had 91 yards on seven catches, his seventh game of 90 or more yards; has had four 100-yard games

Emmanuel Sanders
- Had 9 receptions for 148 yards, the third-best yardage total of his career
- Extends his SMU record with his 11th career 100-yard game
- With his TD today, he now has 174 points, moving into ninth at SMU
- Now has 204 career receptions, moving into a tie for ninth in Conference USA history. He is currently second at SMU (Jason Wolf, 235 from 1989-92)
- Now has 2666 career receiving yards, moving into 12th in Conference USA history. He is currently second at SMU (Emanuel Tolbert, 2784 from 1976-79)
- Had a career-high 207 all-purpose yards (148 receiving, 68 on punt returns)

Braden Smith - Rushed for 7 yards and a TD at 10:10 of the first quarter, scoring on his first career rush

Matt Szymanski's – 5-5 on PATs, 9-9 for the season

Taylor Thompson
- Blocked PAT in third quarter
- Had his first sack

Youri Yenga – His forced fumble in the first quarter with his first of the season and the fifth of his career
