Re: InterceptionsI think we will have a great year if we take more turnovers than we give. That is my "expert" non-analysis for the day...
That said, I really love how exciting our defense is this year. They may give up yards, but they make GREAT plays pretty consistently (through 2 games, that is ![]()
Re: InterceptionsToo bad we had 2 INTs and 2 Fumbles lost
Re: Interceptions
Amazing. Way to miss the point. Pretty sure the original post was meant to show that our defense is playing much better this season. Let's get four or five more picks at WSU next week. Fountain of youth

Re: Interceptions
They had 5 turnovers, we had 4. We won the turnover battle. We won. Last year, we hardly ever had the ball because we turned it over and the other teams did not. It's exciting to see the improvement in the defense.
Re: Interceptionswe'll see if we can sustain this positive turnover ratio. it might be too good to be true. we played a 1-aa team that threw the ball 50 times and a team with a QB who would rather run and was forcing the ball downfield
Re: Interceptions
An important stat, but not necessarily a gauge for success...I remember a few years ago, SMU led the nation in TO ratio - our Plus number was rediculously high...yet we still only won a couple of games. The Defense looked better this week, still too many yards and points given up, and once again during crunch time they couldn't stop UAB and they went down the field for the potential tie. Nice stop on the 2 point conversion at least. Special Teams is what is winning it for us...another nice punt return, no kicks missed, no punts blocked, most kickoffs going out of the endzone, and blocking the PAT is what kept us out of overtime..remember, they scored as many TDs as we did, they just missed one PAT. Defense needs to keep improving, I don't think UAB is going to be a very good team, after hearing about their QB all week, I was suprised that he didn't really seem that polished, didn't pass very well, and looked to run way too much. Re: InterceptionsUAB will finish in the middle of pack. The running qb can win you a few games in CUSA - but won't get you to a bowl.
agree on your defense comments - everyone is excited its better - but then again, after last year how could it not be? It has a long way to go still - but increase in team speed is a great start. We are really thin at DT - we need a bunch more monsters to rotate in there - the 3-4 means those front three need to be able to take a double team and win - and you cant do that without rotating.
