John Bordano Game Updates

Postby Stallion » Fri Sep 04, 2009 1:18 pm

Bordano's New Braunfels rolled Thursday Nite 69-2 over cross town rival NB Canyon. No word on Bordano specifically but they apparently were outstanding defensively. New Braunfels has yet to yield a Touchdown on the season. Two stories

Back tracking to Week 1, New Braunfels won 32-3 over Seguin. Here are comments by or about Bordano:

The collective gasp that the New Braunfels fans expelled late in the fourth quarter after the massive hit that Unicorn linebacker John Bordano put on a Seguin player put an exclamation mark on the 95th annual Guadalupe River Bowl on Friday night.

_____________________________________________________________________________

Bordano, who made that bone-crunching hit near the end of the game, believes that the defense can play even better and hopes to prove that throughout the season.

“Our defense stopped them all night long and we are in such great shape as a team that I think we could’ve played another quarter,” Bordano said. “The defense just kept sucking the life out of them until we were able to take control of the game in the second half.

“That is going to be our calling card all season long. Beware the second half.”

We have some good linbackers here already and some great recruits with good size and the coaches are always looking for 'guys with motors'...so Bordano must be another one....

I truly believe we have less quality Division 1A LBs than at any position on the team. Let's watch them chase Joe Webb around the field before you draw your conclusions. Some of the young guys have the athletic ability but many of them are very small. Need major upgrade at LB. I like Bordano and Thornton though. Ucheena Nwabuike appears to have what we are looking for too but he's never played LB.

I was looking for alot more out of our front 7 Saturday night. I've seen guys that weren't the fastest or maybe the biggest but they made up for it by being big hitters. The one thing that stands out to me is that we aren't/weren't physical enough. I did think the tackling was improved from what I've seen in the past but I'm not seeing a real physical style which I was hoping for.
There is no doubt that our LB play needs to improve. I'm hoping someone like Victor Jones can step it up.

It's hard to not laugh at someone, no matter how "scary" they look, when their shirt says "Unicorns"

this blurb (before last nites game) had Bordano with 20 tackles and 4 "Big Hits" in 2 blowouts-I doubt he played much late in the games

Bordano's New Braunfels team lost 21-13 to San antonio Madison-but I believe I read that Madison was ranked 3rd in Texas 5A so they are a quality team
