Getting ready for WSU thread

So what do we need to do to prep for WSU?

Other than flu shots, of course.

The weather forecast is for rain, so pack a raincoat.

Um, the forecast I just saw says a high of 78 and clear skies in Pullman. I'm going to the game to root on the Mustangs! Lets make it 3-0!
Back off Warchild seriously.

I'm pumped for this game. I think it's another road win in the bank for this team. Throw all day to ES and AR. I can't believe starting out 3-0 is within reach

there are no, and will be no, wins "in the bank" for this team. I enjoyed my afternoon in Bham as much as everyone else, but we need to remember what the first three quarters vs SFA felt like, and what the 3rd quarter in Bham was like. I'm so ready to leave those things behind..but at any given moment, something like the first 6 minutes vs TCU last year was possible.

Dont ever stop being vigilant.

this is still a BCS team that is used to going up against tougher competition...we'll need to make another stride this week in order to conquer them. Play like we did in the first half and we got it.

If we start to play like we did in the third quarter, just start taking a knee on the ball. If we took a knee for three downs and then punted the entire third quarter the game wouldn't have been as close....

Heading up to Seattle Thursday before I head to Pullman or I daho or wherever the Mustang Club is staying late Friday. Anyone have suggestions for things to do in Seattle? Very short time in the city. Good place to eat, sites to see, a few libations Thursday night?

Thanks -

What is the injury report? It will affect the game plan.

We need to work on getting more pressure on the passer. Better angles on runners also. On offense we need to do a bit better job running the ball. And BLM and the receivers have to be more consistent. We had some rough returns on kickoff so that too needs improvement. We need to improve the little details in every aspect of our play. The attention to details will be key as we approach this game with the best opponent we have faced yet.

But the real key will be between the ears. WSU isn't a great team and one hopes that SMU doesn't think wins over SFA and UAB equals a real show of strength. SFA isn't a D1-A team and UAB was predicted to be one of the worse teams in CUSA.

WSU is BSC with BSC recruiting, BSC money and BSC exposure. They have more expected of them with more resources than SFA or UAB. We have to remember that we have not beaten a BSC team in forever and we are on the road against a team hungry for a win. And SMU isn't the type team that instills fear in BSC opponents. We have to be focused and increase our intensity against WSU if we are to pull off the road win. Mentally, we have to step it up.

We have to continue improvement and be prepared for a team eager to win, with more depth than we have seen so far and players that play against higher caliber competition. We can win but we can't be overconfident or let down.

Don't care. I'm confident in this team to find way to win against a very bad Wash St team who got flogged by Hawaii. June will have them prepped and good to go.

Oh, two other areas to improve.

One is penalties. Still too many penalties a crucial stages of the game.

Second, improve third down conversions. We suck at 3rd down conversions for two weeks not. That has to improve.

Yeah, but this is a BCS conference team that is used to get their arse handed to them week in and week out. They are just awful. I am taking nothing for granted here, because as an SMU fan, I learn my lesson on that each and every week. But we have a very good chance of being 3-0 if we go out and perform the way we are capable of, and minimize mistakes.

On a different note, when in Seattle, hit the Experience Music Project (the EMP). It's like a museum to rock music. It's downtown right by the Space Needle, so hit both while you are right there.
