what are you so threatened by? IF you are going to use a changeup, running qb, then we would have been a better team yesterday if we had a guy with experience doing it. I forgot, we like perpetual youth around here so we always have an excuse.

Perhaps you did not watch the team last year. Willis was brought in on occasions to run the option. Did pretty well actually and provided us with a spark. No reason to believe he would not have had that role this year also, but guess what......HE IS NO LONGER ON THE TEAM.

not hard to grasp. I complimented BLM and the offense on the first half yesterday. fact is the second half was dismal (as was SFA game) and we very well could have lost and will lose games we should win if the other teams DEFENSE outscores our offense in the second half as it did yesterday.

Beyond not being on the team, the reason you're not seeing JWill at receiver (or doing spot duty at QB) is that he didn't come back with the same speed after his injury. His was a gruesome injury, and quite frankly most of us didn't think he'd be back at all. Maybe if he had another year of eligibility he would have stuck it out and tried to rehab further.

But I guess when he found out he was going to get little playing time this year, he didn't feel it was worth all the effort just to ride the bench. My guess at his motivations are, of course, nothing more than than -- a guess.

On the other hand, Braden is a fantastic athlete. And while he doesn't have BLM's gun, he's actually more accurate and a sharp kid. Having him come in occasionally to mix things up makes perfect since to me.

Ummm, they used Willis in this role a couple of times last year. So it wouldn't be a new Braden Smith role. More like Braden Smith playing Justin Willis' role from last season since Willis is no longer with the team and can no longer play his own role.

It's an angle that existed last SEASON.

And if you do have small wrinkles and nuances in your offense I am pretty sure it is common to save some from time to time to surprise the other team. Do you think that UAB would be looking for Braden to run if he had come in a few times vs SFA and done nothing but run? Of course. Which is exactly what WSU will expect from Braden being in the game this week. Which means we may have to introduce a wrinkle to the wrinkle, like Braden throwing a pass.
