Re: Play by Play Guy Did Good JobYes or no,
Do you believe you get more out of the broadcasts with this group or not?
Re: Play by Play Guy Did Good Job
What you wrote was exactly his problem and why. He was completely unprofessional. He never understood what it meant to paint the picture for the listener and give them insight as to the ebb and flow of the game. John understands that. I have no problem with John getting excited or disappointed over a play but you can't make it your calling card either. John doesn't do that. And Sean does what sideline guys do -- get the news from the bench, look for player changes and things of that nature. You can now enjoy a better broadcast courtesy of Rich, John and Sean.
Re: Play by Play Guy Did Good JobThe moron with a cell phone near analog audio cabling needs to be shot. I heard 10000 GSM chirps in that broadcast
EDIT: the UAB broadcast, as I was watching on channelsurfing... Sir, shooting-star, sir.

Re: Play by Play Guy Did Good Job
Or perhaps you are the joke. We get it...you didn't like Swann...no need to be an a**hole about it. Most of us enjoyed Swannie being our proxy when we couldn't be there to see the game in person. So find a new crusade to obsess about. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Play by Play Guy Did Good Job
I'll find a new crusade when you drop your ridiculous whining crap about the school colors. Apparently, you're the only one who really gives a flip about this. I certainly as hell don't.

Re: Play by Play Guy Did Good JobCraig Swann is an American original, and has earned the title of Mustang broadcast legend. We will not see his like again in the booth
Re: Play by Play Guy Did Good JobSwann was fun - and especially when there wasn't a lot of fun to be had listening to SMU football on the radio. Hampton is good in his own right, but I for one enjoyed Swann ripping the refs - there was nothing like it.

Re: Play by Play Guy Did Good JobDon't forget Craig Way and his 'man crush' on all that bleeds burnt orange. ![]()
Re: Play by Play Guy Did Good Job
I notice that burnt-orange crush-thing too. Way is a lot more reserved when he does High School Scoreboard now...and he gets visibly irritated at the guy with the flattop when they interrupt each other. I dunno...I liked the blonde lady that used to work with them. She was a SMU alum, and she went out of her way to help me find the broadcast when I was living on the West Coast. Didn't have to do that. As to all this hubbub about Swann, I think he did his job. He was mildly entertaining, but I had my biggest issue with him (constructive criticism) that when he did get excited, it was difficult to understand him or Rich. I'm no expert, but I really believe Hampton will do a better job. "Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992
