I just read an article from 2008 concerning the ACC that says conferences have to accommodate teams with winning records before a 6 win team gets a bid. We won 6 games in 2006 and didn't go.

a bowl can't skip over a team with two more wins to pick one with two less (in other words, couldn't skip a 10-2 team to take an 8-4 team) and can't take any 6-6 team until all 7-5 teams are accounted for.

This rule goes into place after the first selection in the process (Liberty Bowl).

That game calls for a "preferred selection team" from C-USA to play a team from the Western Athletic Conference. The WAC team will be Hawaii, if eligible, and the C-USA team may be the next selection after the Liberty Bowl team is picked. One caveat: Early reports from Honolulu indicate that Hawaii Bowl officials want June Jones-coached Southern Methodist

Conference USA has 6 bowl tie-ins this year; possibly 7 with the Eagle Bank Bowl.

Eagle Bank is ACC vs. Army, or if Army is not eligible, MAC/CUSA/Big 10
