Re: A few pics from SMU/UABThanks for the fotos and film..I wish I could have used my ticket!

Re: A few pics from SMU/UABTheir stadium looks like a hole. Is it as bad as it looks, or what?
"Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992
Re: A few pics from SMU/UABLooks about the same as it did 33 years ago. And it sucked then.
Re: A few pics from SMU/UABexcept for a navy game in maryland, this was my first out-of-texas mustang football road trip. it was fun seeing another campus (uab) and another cotton bowl era stadium--w/o the recent cotton bowl renovations. capacity 78k. announced crowd 18k.
decided to spend the first half surrouned by uab green on the visitors side-- in the shade. when the blazers ran on the field they all stood and cheered. so when the mustangs ran out, i stood up, completley surrounded, and yelled as loud as i could. they thought this was pretty funny. when we downed our first punt on the 15 as it appeared headed for the goal line, they demanded an explanation from their token red and blue. so i did the same for one of their early gaffs. it was fun and they showed to be great sports expecially since we had all the mo in the first half. second half, i moved back to the visitors side to sit with MY PEOPLE. too few of us but many were family members and some lettermen of the past. the end game was close and exciting. i think a close win is always a good one. and a road conference win is big any time you can get it. and did i mention: WE WON! nothing beats a win. after the game 3 of the special delivery guys went the extra mile (or 3--literally) by giving me a ride back to my hotel. i was afraid i got them completely lost and was relieved to see the proof-of-life photos on this thread. i do hope they only have to deliver IN DALLAS. we are lucky to have them as mustang fans. you should send them all the business you can, guys. and, btw, i can confirm it. paul layne made another one.
Re: A few pics from SMU/UAB18000 fans huh....BS
Re: A few pics from SMU/UAB
he said "announced" crowd...probably no more than a couple hundred on the SMU side from what I could tell
Re: A few pics from SMU/UABthat's about right for the smu crowd. as for the "announced" number, i thought the concept of ticketed noshows staying home in droves and still being counted needed no explaining on this site.
Re: A few pics from SMU/UAByou think 18000 tickets were even distributed?
Re: A few pics from SMU/UABhow would i know how many tickets were distributed? and who cares? announced is announced. 60,000 empty seats isn't much prettier than 70,000.
bottom line is: it was a typical explosive cusa offensive show with a nail biter of an ending. i got my $10 worth. (coupon)
Re: A few pics from SMU/UABand btw, i can't tell you how much i enjoy the fact that big 12 (11?) (13?) (#6) ok state bcs team put up 35 against a cusa team last saturday---and got beat. bet that huge stilwater crowd was pretty quiet as the final seconds ticked off that one. uh looks good,.
Re: A few pics from SMU/UAB
What an outstanding photo with the hot trainer! Your photographer must have been a professional. ![]()
Re: A few pics from SMU/UAB
Think of all the great history in that place. I am fond of the old stadiums personally. I always thought SMU should have stayed at the Cotton Bowl instead of leaving for Texas Stadium. I loathe Jerry World.
Re: A few pics from SMU/UAB
OSU was overanked. However, excepting Houston who will win CUSA running away this year, they would crush every other CUSA team like a grape. They are still a mid tier Big 12 program with elite athletes (relatively speaking of course) I remember an unranked Les Miles OSU team crushing us one night at Ford years ago. Just a different level of play.
