Wulff reads like a Phil Bennett starter kit.

But Wulff doesn't sound convinced that Lobbestael will be the answer to the Cougars' offensive problems. That's why the coaching staff is planning not to use a redshirt on freshman quarterback Jeff Tuel and instead will start to prepare Tuel to play this season.

Tuel could play as early as Saturday. Later Tuesday, Wulff said if Lobbestael steps forward and plays extremely well then the coaching staff may reconsider using Tuel this season.

Looked at Tuel. Had offers from Fresno State and Nevada. Accounted for 56% of his HS team's total offense. Can run and throw.
