Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday?I am interested in hearing only from those who actually were at the game and saw the four interceptions, particularly the two returned for touchdowns. If you were there and saw them, what is your analysis of what went wrong? For example did Bo not see a defender, did Bo under or over throw the receiver, did the receiver miss the catch, did the receiver run the wrong route, did the receiver fall down ? Where would you place the blame?
Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday? And to piggyback on SAMs question, has the defense improved or was WSUs offense just that bad?
Does the NCAA keep records for number of INTs for Tds? Are we close to breaking it? "Once the number 3, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday?or did he make all his mistakes while "under pressure" from a pass rush?
Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday?I was at the game and I can tell you the ints were ALL on Bo. They were thrown into double and triple coverage, underthrown and overthrown. Not to mention he locks on to his WR and the whole stadium knows where it's going. He didn't even look good when we were completing passes. Wilkerson's second TD happened right in front of us and if not for a crazy athletic play on Terrance's part that ball goes sailing out of the endzone. Terrance climbed the ladder and made a tremendous catch (almost as impressive as DJ's superman catch in game one).
The D did look good. I won't sugar coat it, WSU's offense was BAD, one of the worst I've seen in D-1a. However, our guys were flying around and making plays. I don't think we got more than a sack or two, but we were getting pressure and hitting the QB almost every down, and that was with no Youri. WSU couldn't do anything all night on our D until that last drive that tied the game. In short the D looks nothing like the unit last year. I felt more comfortable with them on the field in the 4th quarter than I did with a Bo Levi Lead offense. #NewLobCity
Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday? Thanks Tycoon. This is the type of information I am looking for. Doesn't sound good for Bo. Wonder how much his ribs affected his performance? I don't see how being in pain would cause his failure to look off defenders and by now in his career that should be second nature to him. I probably should have titled this "For Anyone Who Attended the Game." Perhaps, others will provide their analysis.
Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday?
having 14+ years experience with the RnS, not all of the ints are on Bo, receivers share blame with two of them, (ie the screen & crossing fade). for example, Haynes ran 5 incorrect routes and he wasn't in very often, beasley ran 4 bad routes, including one which isn't even in the RnS or WCO, Bo made many adjustments when he found Beasley. I was the only SMU fan in the WSU student section and as on the 45 yard line, had a great view. BLM made a few great throws, many on target throws, and a few that were off target. He had two passes that were high on Wilkerson, and one thrown to wrong shoulder with hindered YAC. Bo hit Al Robinson in the bread basket on most throws. ES ran great routes all game, 4 of the balls his way needed to be more accurate. one needed to be put through his earhole for the over the right shoulder grab, it went behind his head and ES made an adjustment. On the naked screen, the ball was too high ES didn't pull that one down. On the deep post, ball was a foot off kilter to the right, he couldn't make the catch out of bounds. Bo had one pass sail on him that was real bad out of bounds, actually right between two open recievers, if he hit either it would have been a td recievers were at the 50 yd hash at the time. Overall, he missed three big reads, threw 10 inaccurate passes, and made two bad decisions in 4 qtrs plus overtime after throwing 50+ passes. Considering his background and the current offense = progress. also, not all the picks were in double and triple coverage, the type of zone Wazzu was playing at the time, couple with the D's reaction to the ball accounts for that. Also, Beasly [deleted] the bed on that screen, didn't get his head around, Bo even adjusted to his lack of timing by lofting the throw (beasley was still 2 seconds off) and that accounted for one of the picks that led to a WSU score. The game had a slow pace to it, it may have been frustrating, but we need to stay objective, especially when we are critical. ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday?I didn't grade Bo out like you claim to have done so I can't say he had ten bad passes or whatever, and I can't refute what you've said, but I disagree with your assesment about double and triple coverage. It wasn't like our guys had 2 or three defenders all over them, WSU was usually trailing our open WR's and Bo just made a bad pass and there were two or three WSU players there to catch the under throw. The int in the endzone was a perfect example.
I also don't blame the receivers for the ints in the flat. That's a VERY dangerous pass and Bo didn't execute correctly He has a lot more incompletions if it's not for our WR making good plays on the ball. #NewLobCity
Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday? The defense is much improved.
TT did well all game and he was held early and often, no calls. Grenier is improved and plays very intelligently; he may turn out to be an impact player. Frazier had a good game, played at either full speed, or half speed. Looks like he is feeling himself out a little. Hunt played a little in the first quarter. On one snap, Hunt pushed the RT back, yards right off the snap of the ball, but it was a handoff (J. Montgomery) to the other side. Two plays later, he threw the RG down (RG tried to cut him) then dropped into coverage real quick and wrapped up the tight end as he caught the ball. He didn't see much more action, the staff appears to be bringing him around slowly, the guy is a freak. Moore had a great game but also a great number of PIs called against him. Mojica was active, speedy and tackled well in the second half, also notched a pick. Kennemer is solid, he had two balls thrown directly at him, he caught one for a pick, dropped the other, great motor and tackler. Banjo was either at full throttle or 70%, he took a nasty little headshot from Jared Karsetter (wasn't called). McCann and Banjo are hard hitters, both took out the pulling guards coming their way. Taylor Reed played his role well, and is showing some displine despite his age. Flemming is a great athlete, made some great plays, he got lit up twice. Ja Garad Davis is raw, and needs to be more disciplined, at the end of the game he didn't want to the sidelines when Mason changed the package, he had to be forced to the sidelines, twice before he got off.. he has heart and intensity. Parham had a solid game, and occupied both gaps well, allowing the zone blitz to be effective. WSU as an offense looked bad, partly because of the defense, but partly because they are trying to run a no huddle they haven't grasped yet, their heads are swimming and they huddled often, much to the dismay of WSUs coaching staff. Marshall Lopenstael (sp?) arm was lacerated twice by sacks, they glued him up the first time, it opened again and they took care of it during half-time. He was rattled by the D. The D was real effective in stopping the run as well. The DBs tackled much better. Scheme put players in position to make plays. We left three turnovers on the field, and can't afford to leave anything behind. ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday?
Yep the deep guys would tighten up on the ball. The int in the end-zone was completely unnecessary IMO. I understand being aggressive, but to me, that was reckless. He missed the 3rd read on that play (opposite side), who was breaking left. That would have put us on the 5-7 yard line at the spot, or with a missed tackle, TD.
definately agree. Last edited by kull on Sun Sep 20, 2009 11:47 am, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday? Thanks for the reports. Kull, was Lobbestal as bad as he sounded on the radio or was our defense that good?
Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday?Greatness Kull ------thats the type of posts that I love to read from someone who understands what is going on in the field..thanks for the insights....I guess we are all a little more objective today after getting up so much for this game and having such a hard let down.
Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday?I didn't mention this earlier but this is the best offensive line for SMU in over a decade, maybe 2. In an offense that puts a premium on getting the ball out fast, BLM consistly had time (usually 2 seconds more than required when they rushed 4). They played as a unit, with great technique albeit against WSU. They are young and will improve. Klemm is a great soft spoken teacher for a first time coach. Enright controlled the point of attack, had a few erratic snaps (keep in mind there was a intermittant drizzle so the ball was wet, only was wiped about 5-6 times all game) of which Bo adjusted to well. We rotated a bit at guard, everyone was decent. We had one guard beat a few times on stunts, can't remember who it was. After our reciever fumbled the ball after a nice gain, Bryce Tennison made a heads up play recovering the fumbled quickly, despite closer proximity of defenders. Josh L. had an effective game, (Klemm was instructing Brooks at the time), McKnight gave Josh a few pointers throughout the game that he adjusted to i believe in regards to run-blocking, on the next series he used his hands and leverage better. Beachem is solid, there were two battles he should have lost, but didn't. JT Brooks needs to improve on knee bend and footwork, both looked out of sync. He is using his hands effectively and is powerful, but from what I saw, he is predisposed to lower back injury. BLM was forced out of the pocket and to the ground on separate occasions, both those are on him. Run blocking needs to improve but we are farther ahead as a group then expected. Enright (backup center also, McJunkin?) Tennison and another guard were very effective in pulling on run downs. On a screen to Aldrick for a three yard gain on the right side, the LT, Beachem traversed the field, got a good push, was quickly joined by tennison and brooks, and they moved a pile of 8 wsu defenders backwards for a 12 yard gain. BLM side stepped pressure a few times (2x on left guard, 1x on Enright, 1x on RT) and when tackled made sure to secure the football with both hands.
This SMU team showed a lot of improvement from last year on both sides of the ball. Special teams overage unit needs to tighten up in two areas when we face better teams, but were fairly effective yesterday. We had little to no chance to return punts yesterday, most were fair catches. McCann's (i think it was him) knee touched the ground on one return, he made the right read, headed left but the refs whistled the play over. The had a clear alley to go 65 yards for the score on the far left side, and great blocking. Our kicker has a huge leg, but needs to improve on directional kicks. He stained the mattress with those kickoffs out of bounds, no excuse for that give WSU that field position. PATs and FG were solid. The short snapper was high twice, the holder got it down in time in either case, and points were converted. I digress.....
I can say that SMU players were extremely well prepared for WSU. The D consistently took everything they could away from WSU, and in the few instances when something was available (they cut the field in half for him to simplify reads, protected him with some swing passes to the flat, and short passes to Karsetter), their QB couldn't deliver the goods. He had a decent final drive in the fourth quarter aided by calls by the ref, and big game on a blown coverage due to assignment confusion by our DBs (should have been negated to do a clip on our DE). Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday?Kull. Did you used to work for JJ as an assistant or something? I wish we could send you to all the SMU games so we could get these awesome detailed reports!
Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday?Kull where did you get your stats from? Did you count them while you were at the game? How do you know that Klemm is soft spoken if you live in that part of the country? How many SMU practices have you attended?

Re: Did Anyone Attend the Game Yesterday? If our receivers keep running the wrong routes is Reinbold partly to blame? Maybe thats why we are taking 6 more WRs in this class!
