Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!
So who exactly will notice that you're not there? Derail the Frogs!
Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!The problem is that we were favored going into the Wash St game. We just need to go back to our normal expectations. Make the trip over to Ft. Worth hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Most likely the outcome will more closely resemble the worst, but at least you were prepared for it and hopefully there will be some positives mixed in.
Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!This thread coincides with recent discussions that the banal
series between TCU and SMU should be permanently cancelled due to lack of interest. This would allow each of us the freedom to schedule teams that would stimulate far greater fan interest. The Frogs currently have LSU, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Navy, Texas Tech, Virginia and Baylor scheduled for AGC. Each of these games promises to bring large crowds to AGC.
Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!The Iron Skillet should never be canceled. It is one of the few traditions that SMU still has, while attendance is not as good as it should killing it would truly be a mistake.
GO Ponies!!!!
Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!
I agree. Why would we stop playing our only natural geographic rival? Derail the Frogs!
Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!
Traditions are great. However, currently college sports are driven by the almighty dollar. TCU's Saturday night game with Division 1AA Texas State drew 35,249 fans. Texas State probably brought more fans to AGC than SMU will for the game on October 3rd. Iron Skillets and other forms of kitchen utensils apparently have little or no interest to most football fans.
Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!no tcu for me but i am going to the houston game. promised a couple of people last week. wondering how i can get out of it. i may not be feeling well then.
Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!This is pathetic.
• We have a winning record. • Despite two dreadful interception TDs, we still had a chance to win. • We have had many years in which we knew we were not competitive in almost any games. This year, we'll compete even in the games we lose. • Our QB is getting killed by OUR fans after leading us to a winning record. • TCU is our most natural rival. • It's only 40 minutes away. • It's a rivalry game. • You do not abandon your team, especially when the venom appears pointed at one player (if that was the case, JerryWorld would be empty because of Romo's braincramp against Seattle ... or New York two years ago ... or Philly last year ... or ...) • Had the Ponies pulled Saturday's game out, we'd all be saying "wow — 400+ yards and a few touchdowns. Got to tighten up those INTs, but we're 3-0! Go Ponies! Knock off the Frogs! Etc., etc." As a fan base, we look embarrassingly fickle. While pointing the finger at players and coaches who need to improve, we need to improve as fans, too. I agree with the assessment that anyone who "boycotts" the Frog game should be barred from the Boulevard. There is no excuse to not be at Froggy High for the entire game, and be loud. We're PonyFANS, remember? Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!
Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!Let's pretend that we are 6-6 and have a shot at a bowl. It would make this team a bit more attractive if we traveled well. By that I mean we put fans in the stands. There are some on this board that would remind us that we have no expectations of beating TCU. Assume that is normal. With no expectations of a win (but always hope) why not go and watch the best SMU team in years and increase the team's attractiveness to bowls? I am sure not one person on this board has expressed confidence that we will beat TCU. So go as there is nothing to lose in this game for us and the possibility that we are more attractive to bowls.
Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!We will probably hang tough with TCU and BLM will throw more pick sixes-then drive home to Dallas-fun.
Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!
Got to agree with every single word of your post. I wouldn't miss the Frog game for anything. Our guys need to know we support them. I'll be at Amon Carter Landfill — GO PONIES! Plagiarize!
Let no one else's work evade your eyes. Remember why the good lord made your eyes. So don't shade your eyes, just Plagiarize, plagiarize, plagiarize! (Only be sure always to call it, please .... "research.")
Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!
6-6 teams do not deserve to go to a bowl game............................ Peruna is my mascot!
Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!Wasn't planning on going to the TCU game, but I actually just called and bought my tickets this morning. I know that everyone has a different reaction to the loss on Saturday, and I'm not questioning anyone's loyalty, but I think it is ridiculous to encourage others not to go. If it is that upsetting to you, then stay home but don't try to organize a boycott. Just my opinion. Go Ponies!
Re: Just Say No the TCU Game!!!!!!!!If I lived in Texas, I would be at the TCU game. No doubt. I'm saving my Mustang football trip for Marshall.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
