Thank you MRYDEL and PONYTE for your insight. I personally think he is pressing. When he settles down, great things happen.

As I recall (and am somewhat asking), weren't we up 7 points in the 4th qtr with 3 - 5 minutes left and within FG range?

Yes, your QB needs to be able to throw, but does anyone question the play calling?

Hindsight is great, but why not run the ball and worst case run the clock down and have a 10 pt lead?

tht sounds an awful lot like those tv commercials

ditto. Although I kept coming up with reasons to go out to the car to hear the broadcast on XM 196, and then after the reception concluded...with about 2:00 left in regulation...I took the looooooong way back to the hotel.

You are right about this issue of getting on the players and I must say I have let a few feelings slip that I should not have. The youngish defence is playing ok, pass blocking seems to be ok and the running games is picking up so with out knowing what the second half instructions are I can not say what is causing the second half problems in the last two games but then no body else on this board can either.

I did not see the game or hear the broadcast but in looking at the stats I don't know if I have ever seen a team dominate on paper like SMU did and still lose. To me, the pass interception or Oskie as we called it in my day is the biggest game changer in football. To have two returned for touchdowns and then a third on the first possession in overtime is a killer. The good news is that the Mustangs(including the coaching staff) have two weeks to dwell on what might have been. That loss may in the long run help SMU.

I still keep hearing about the basic offense and BLM has to still throw out of it, but when you are up by seven on their 17 or 18 yard line with 3-4 minutes left and even if you have BLM take a friggin knee three times to burn down the clock and then kick a field goal to go up by two scores with then maybe 2 minutes left, we win the game. And I don't care if everyone says that you can't run out of this formation, McMeal is real special and is a high quality Division 1 RB who may also have NFL type talent...use the guy!

Perhaps what Bo is having problems with is that the other team is making halftime adjustments to which he is not figuring out. Clearly we let them back in the game. I think if nothing else we need to at least show a three run series (even if we go three and out) when we are up by a ton, just to lure the defense into a run mentality and set up a play action bomb.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

SMU89, I agree. Why isn't anyone discussing why we didn't try to get position for a FG, when 3 that late would have all but sealed it? I asked Coach Morrison at lunch if it was mentioned to JJ on the headphones as we were going into that posession (starting at WSU 18). He said he was not aware of it being mentioned. At least he didn't mention it nor did he hear of anyone else saying anything. On the road, and having played good D all day, why not make their offense earn 2 scores in a very short amount of time. Don't think they could have. :?

Let me restate. By trying to get position, handoff to Shawnbrey 2 or 3 times up the gut with emphasis on holding on to the ball. At least you don't put BLM in a position for a pick if he makes a poor read or decision.
