This a tough thread for an out of.towner to stomach. If you're not going to the frog game because our team lost last week, that's fine. Just don't call yourself a fan

You know what kind of "message" you'll be sendig if you stay home? You'll be telling all the players & coaches of our team, our other fans, the frogs & their fans, and the media that we don't care about our program.

I guess if, for some reason, you had decided to send Phil Bennett a message a few years ago that none of us would have been in the stands when we beat the frogs the week after they beat OU. You guys are idiots!

And those of you that skip the game for this reason should never, EVER come on here [deleted] about the Dallas Morning News not giving us enough coverage. If we don't care, why should they? Pathetic.

I guess they can meet up with the 25,000 that have been boycotting the home games for the last 20 years. I think it is cute that they think it will be noticed.

You know you could go and stay for just one half. If they're losing badly, fine - you leave and go drink. If they're winning or close then you can stay out of perverse curiosity. I remember when I was in law school, William and Mary was playing UNC in basketball which was ranked #1 in the Country at William and Mary. It was exam week and I need to study as I had an exam the next day. I went to the game figuring it would be over by halftime and I could go back and study. Instead W&M beat UNC for its greatest victory in its basketball history which I would have missed if I hadn't gone. If TCU beats Clemson this weekend, it could be in the top 10. Sure we'll probably lose the game, but....
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Another prediction: my family will be there from kickoff to the last whistle, cheering like hell for the Ponies.
All of them.

this thread just about sums up how we have come to this point in our football history. SMU, TCU, Rice & Houston were "cast aside" by our former SWC mates who were tired of carrying us. TCU cared enough to do something about it. In case nobody noticed, they drew about 35k for their home opener against Texas State. How did we do last year - about 22k?

Oh...and bowl committees pay attention to attendance figures and how well a team's fans travel. Whether SMU fans care to admit it or not, we are a big part of the problem. I should qualify that by saying "SMU connected people", whether they be students, alums or faculty & staff...those who have an opportunity and a reason to be fans...and choose not to care...are a big part of our problem.

An argument can be made that the 1500 are among the greatest fans any college athletics program could have.
