Weird Defensive Stat Line

Postby Stallion » Tue Sep 22, 2009 4:32 pm

leading tacklers were CB McCann and FS Banjo. DEs Thompson didn't record a tackle and Frazier was credited with 1 tackle. MLB Kennemer had only 2 tackles. Only 47 tackles credited to defense. Yet we have best run stopping performance in a long time. I wasn't there so I'm not sure how this happened but its a little strange. (I realize that often DLM don't need to make tackles to do their job but usually you will see the LBs have even bigger numbers). May be a result of Time of Possession, WSU turning to its passing game and more substitutions which it is hard to keep track of on radio.

Yes, and that usually means the runners are getting to the 2nd level (like last year). That usually is not a good sign, but in this case Stallion might be correct as WSU changed their style of play in the 2nd half.

I feel like Kennemer has been making a heck of a lot of tackles this year at the inside linebacker spot. :?

he has...and he will continue to rack up tackles but in years past, the best tacklers came from the secondary

I believe the time of possession had something to do with it. If I'm not mistaken, we held the ball for approximately 40 minutes to their 20 minutes.

That's because our offense does not work on tackling enough.
