JJ turned Hawaii around one year.
At SMU, with many of his same staff from UH, it is moving at a much slower pace.
So what does that tell you
Give it stinkin time people he has a 5 year contract

I don't agree that he turned Hawaii around in one year. Yes, they did go bowling in his first year, but his second year, they went 3-9. If I remember right, he had a senior-laden team his first year there, and in his second year, they had pretty much no one with any real experience.

we've already shown we will be more competitive this year. By next year, we should be more competitive with even the good teams on our schedule. By 2011, expect some upsets...or for SMU to be favored in a lot more games than we have been in years. We will have a winning record as early as next year and certainly by 2011. That's how I see our football timeline

now...about that hoops program....

How did you navigate your way through SMU, LA Mustang? Your listening skills coupled with comprehension are a bit, "JC-Like". Not wanting to hit you with a "typical response", I will just remind you what JJ has said, maybe 1000 times....we will make progress each year...it will take 4 seasons to get to the point where we will be competing for bowl games and possible C-USA Championships...it takes time to build a "winning attitude", etc., etc., etc...so...already more W's v. last year..GOOD...road win V. a conf. opponent...GOOD...competitive road game V. a BCS team (even though Wash St. is the worst team in the history of D-I football..HA!!)..."ok"...increased season tickets sales...GOOD...renewed passion / excitement among these "Super Fans" on PF.com...SUPER DUPER...patience my friend, patience. GO MUSTANGS!!

We have not been rebuilding for 20 years. We have been rebuilding for 2 years. Unitl the restrictions on recruiting were lifted, we could not compete. That is why we continue to be so young. We are recruiting over the previous players. Of course most have always said "be patient", but I do honestly believe it does now apply.

why is it that most of you who rush to squash any dissent and rationalize everything with more time seem to have joined this board in the last year or two? Granted not all, but where do some of you guys come from? We play in CUSA, not the big 12. And JJ is supposed to be this coach with this offense that can overachieve. I'll be patient with youth, if the young player has the real tools. That means a qb with size, mobility, leadership ability, good decision making, a strong arm and accuracy. After a full year and 3 games, our qb who we ran off of a legit veteran qb in favor of seems to have one out of the six characteristics. One out of 6. I don't expect perfection, but cmon that was one of the most ridiculous second half qb performances and losses of the post DP era last week. and that is saying something. Just the previous week, the mantra was we had finally learned to win close games. What happened to that? nevermind that based on subsequent performance, uab seems to be pretty bad and WSU is horrible by all accounts. Truth is jj has botched the qb position and that was supposed to be his strength. So sorry if you dont like hearing that valid observation and opinion.

Willis is not on the team anymore. Sorry you keep forgetting that. I have stated previously that the QB that will pull this team into the future has not yet been recruited. I do not believe that BLM, Padron, McDermott, Kaiser, Smith or any other current or committed QB will be the one that leads us to our future hopeful high level of achievement. We need better players. Past coaches were not allowed to recruit better players. Willis was not the answer, nor is any athlete we currently project as QB in my opinion. What we have will get us toward where we want to be, but the level of talent has to be increased dramatically.

And BTW, Willis lacked size, leadership ability (that helmet throwing and berating his teammates cost him a lot of that status), good decision making, strong arm, and accurracy. He did have mobility, but he did fumble a lot. That is one out of six.

I think that we have some QBs currently on our roster or committed to us that will lead us to 6-6, 7-5, 8-4 status (we're a year away from 8-4 right now). Getting to that point will allow us to recruit a better QB.

I think the reason there are so many newcomers to the board is because for the first time we have a commitment from the administration and a coach we can believe in. JJ will deliver. Sunshiners unite. :D

I dont' think "Date Joined Ponyfans" or "Post Count" has any bearing on whether your opinion on this board is valid. If anything, we ought to be kissing people's asses who made the decision to become a fan in the last couple years or so, regardless of their opinion. It's not like you can call them bandwagon

a lot of these guys probably just changed their names. There are several on here that have 2-3-4 names.
