This is going to make us a laughing stock. "How many horses does it take...." "Why does SMU have two mascots..." "You don't throw away 80 years or whatever it is of tradition just because a bunch of Sophomores and Juniors who have been to "parts" of 7 games think it would be cool to have a "Big Horse". What a [deleted] idea. I'll go along with it only in exchange for BIG BIG Check for a new BB areana.

Gentlemen, how often do Stallion and Dooby agree? If we do, you know we are right.

This is going to suck.

I hope Peruna kills this new horse like he killed that goat or whatever back in the day. And I hope he does it during the first quarter so that the maximum number of people can witness some carnage other than the usual carnage.

TCU is the one that needs a new mascot. SMU's mascot "was" unique in that it could both interact with the public especially kids and run the field. There will be babies crying as a result of Boone Pickens trying to kill our Peruna. Bring your crying babies to the front row during the ceremony so Gerald Turner and Boone Pickens can see what they have done.

I think we can all agree that this is the first step in minimization and elimination of Peruna.

I wonder if the Noid (mustang maniac?) will be riding him onto the field while the band plays our 'new fight song' Mighty Mustangs Thunder.

Good to finally get a powerful steed. (Peruna will not kill a real Mustang, it might be just the opposite).

This sucks. Peruna isn't the problem with the fb team. It's been the coaching and the players. A new mascot isn't going to do anything at all except kill one of the oldest traditions we have left. And what will happen to the horse when JJ leaves? And what's going to happen to Peruna 9, which we have already? This is definitely a slap in the face of the Culwell family.

For the record, I don't oppose creating new traditions. I just know that this one is not going to work. Unfortunately, this is going to have to be put in to practice before some people figure it out.

This is like the idea of an on campus bar. You get a bunch of people nodding in agreement that this is a really good idea until you point out that this is SMU and start going about explaining exactly how SMU would go about executing the idea of an on campus bar, including requiring an SMU student ID showing the person is 21, limiting the presence of non-SMU people, the fact that it would probably strictly limit consumption and only serve like two beers and have one TV, and then everyone realizes that they would have no interest in ever going to a place like that.

And so it will be with this "horse," which we will call a mustang. Everyone that supports it will soon figure out that the entire role of this horse will be to come off a trailer, walk into the stadium before the game starts, either well in advance of the team or after the team and stand on the sideline or the endzone, next to two or more trainers (possibly coeds, whose primary responsibility will be to hold the bridle (and there will be a bridle, even though this is a "mustang") and shovel [deleted]. The horse will be walked off the field after the game and back onto the trailer. It will not be allowed to run. They won't let it lead the team on the field. It will likely have to be medicated during the game.

I agree with having a real Mustang and I agree that it does not need a rider.

Put me down as in agreement with Stallion and the others on this.

Two horses on one football field? You gotta be kidding?

I think what they really want is to get rid of Peruna & this way they think they can faze him out.

Peruna has been present at every SMU home football game for over 70 years.

Insane officially proclaims this is Insane!

Leave Peruna alone!
