So what the hell are you doing on Ponyfans? No one is going to run alongside a real mustang....they will be dragged to death. If you put a rider on it, it is no longer a mustang...it is just another horse with a rider on it and we are just another TT. If you just have it standing in the corner like a fricking cow with big horns on it how awesome is that? Peruna is a mascot...plain and simple. The SMU Mustangs are the players on the field and if they don't start winning some big games, you can put King Kong out there as our mascot and it still won't mean a damn thing.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I hope it is a female "mustang" and Peruna tries to mount her

I hate JJ. I'm not going to another game. I'm not giving the Mustang Club any more money.

The "powers that be" that approved this move are obviously out of touch with the SMU community. If that is Turner, Orsini, Jones, or anyone else I generally like, I don't care. They need to go. Period.

If someone actually thinks this is a good idea, will you please explain to me what they expect this "mustang" is going to do?
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Bevo is a [deleted] cow but it stands for something because it's the only cow, it's been there 100 years, and they win...a lot. This horse will stand for nothing except for just being a(nother) [deleted] idea.

I agree 100%. I'm not an old fart fan rooting against change, I am under the age of "when Doak Walker was running the ball..." or even the days of the Pony Express. Consider me a new school guy wanting to stick with tradition.

I had no problem being called a Pony when it referred to
Pony Express I Pony Express II
as with the color of your damn jerseys its a trademark-one that is easily recognizeable even years later and opponents were scared as hell of it.

Interesting......hmmmmmmm. I will reserve judgement, but I like the fact that we have T Boone and his wife involved and getting emotionally involved with SMU...maybe he can give us 300 Million dollars like Okie State and we can buy a whole new team with the money.

I think this is a stupid idea as well, but it's something that June has wanted all along. Let's not forget the agenda behind all this...T. Boone Pickens and his money. Since he donated the horse, maybe he'll come to a few games to see the stupid thing, and maybe cut us a check somewhere down the road. It would be dumb to think that he would dontate anything close to what he has at OSU, but any amount would help. Having Roger Staubach on board doesn't hurt either.

I wonder if this is the kind of reactions JJ had when he changed the Hawaii colors , name and mascot?! I dont like this either. Will they even be able to walk it down the boulevard before games? Will the be able to run it across the field when we score? I guess If peruna still gets to do his thing and this horse just stands in the corner like bevo then whatever its not going to hurt anything. They just better not get rid of peruna!!

It would mean a bigger shovel. As long as they are not getting rid of Peruna, I have no problem with it. Change can be hard for some. We've been in a 25 year funk. Mix it up. Something a little different vs. same old routine.

Maybe we should change our colors to bright orange and white and have the Mustang cared for by "Cowboys" for Boone Pickens too. How big did you say that check was going be?

To be fair about it I think it being called a Shetland or Shetland Pony by others that is annoying.
