Does a 70-year college tradition mean nothing to you people. Someone please explain to me (and I am being serious) how will ditching a 70-year college football tradition help us win more football games. Hate to break it to ya, but the mascot is not the problem
Has anyone on here said that a new mascot will help us win more games?
Then why are they doing it.

Then why are they doing it.
I have no idea why they are doing it. I do know that arguing against it by saying it will not help us win games is arguing against a strawman if no one has said it will help us win games. There are clearly a lot of reasons to argue against the new horse, so I do not see why people need to argue against claims that have not been made. I am just asking if anyone has said it will help us win games, so far I have not seen that.

Word on the street is that JJ thinks that "little horse" projects the wrong image. He wanted to make the change last year, but supposedly Turner said no. It appears that JJ made an end run with Staubach, et. al., and got a billionaire to wave money in front of Turner. And you know what Turner thinks of money....another building!!

If that is true, I am glad that our head coach is still confident in his ability to get us seven wins in one year that he has enough free time to focus on pet projects like this.

We need the little horse, it kind of lulls visitors into a false sense of security. I sat on the visitor side one time and the ladies thought he was cute. Granted most of the guys thought the little horse was a joke (but who cares what they think). We need the little horse.

JJ is wrong. Peruna was here decades before SMU sucked. Peruna was here long before Doak. It is not Peruna's fault that SMU sucks. It is SMU's fault that SMU sucks.

Guess you think A&M should get rid of the collie Guess you think Georgia should get rid of their bulldog Guess you think Baylor should get rid of the cub..(oh I forgot Baylor quit using it because PETA got mad) Guess you think OU should get rid of Boomer and Sooner If it was good enough for Doak Walker, Jerry Levias, and the "PONY Express," it's good enough for me.

KnuckleStang why do you keep asking that dumb question? No a horse nor even new uniforms or a new stadium win actual games, as the players win games...its all part of a much bigger master plan that includes many things just as putting a new company together requires new offices, desks, logo, web site etc. but its utlimately the people that make it successful. JJ has a plan which includes things such as this that increases SMU's exposure for recruiting and adding a stronger image etc. and until he fails or succeeds we can complain all we want but he has to have the time to make this work. He will succeed. maybe not this year but next we will be in a bowl.
