I really don't know anything...only that I DO NOT take this "fan site" as serious as most (Stallion,GSP, etc..)..I enjoy watching this bunch get all worked up over nothing, funny stuff. I have been here for quite some time, with job moves, out of the country, new computers, etc...my handle has changed here and there...my time here is for pure entertainment, fire in the movie house, pot stirring, watching the mouth foaming and premature ejacks..GO PONIES / BEAT tcu!!

I had a phone call from a recruiting coordinator one time-we had a nice discussion about these issues for about 30 minutes. He never said I was wrong about a single issue I was posting about-although he confided in me a couple of points I hadn't yet identified. He stated the problems I identified were real and negatively affected SMU's ability to compete. He wanted me to take it easy-I told him some day both the Head Coach and the Recruiting Coordinator would likely be fired and a new Coach would come in without the necessary changes-and the same meery-go-round would continue. I haven't allowed the Model to be an excuse for this program's recruiting classes in 2 years. Its not an excuse anymore.
I do think its funny that the the mysterious Alex can claim that I had nothing to do with changes at SMU. And yet Head Coaches, ADs and the Administration have been so concerned about my comments on an SMU public forum where the SMU Community comes to discuss issues on athletics. No one published more on the topic, wrote earlier on the topic, identified the specific problems with the program, wrote more exhaustively on the topic, knew more about Division 1A recruiting standards and prospects and supported his opinions with more facts and evidence than me. If all I did was educate SMU fans on the website where SMU fans come to discuss SMU athletics then I'm satisfied with my contribution-because I know that when SMU tried to dismantle the SMU football program at least I didn't just roll over and take it and go buy Cowboy and Mav tickets
And Stallion like Euclid...

Said another way, you are bitter that no one gives you the credit you think you deserve.

ALEX LIFESON wrote:Stallion wrote:Does sucking up to everything coming out of the Coaching Staff get old for you? No, probably not, I guess it's just a reflection of my personality, I always see the glass half full in life, not just here on ponyfans. If you notice the regular posters on this board, you get a good sense of their attitude on life, their posts are a reflection of that attitude. My personality, (with my own flaws) has allowed the Lord to bless me with a beautiful young wife, (that still has friends baffled) a successful sales career, strong involvement in my church, trust by SMU alums and friends, that give me money for the Mustang Club, and many related projects, (thanks again friends). And as you have pointed out in a previous shot, I am not an SMU alum, but, I have been a fan for 40 years, and if you put guys like me and you on a fans scale, in my opinion, SMU would benefit from 20,000 cheerleaders like me, as opposed to guys like you. And while all of your research is honestly appeciated by everyone, being the "suckup" that I am, I have been told by numerous coaches, including our TOP recruiter, that you make things more difficult for them, and that you actually HURT the program. But, I will see you tonight, and yes I will be optimistic, and my brother will be waving his flag, (or pom poms) as you said. GO MUSTANGS!
What if he tells us we suck, should we still go to the game tonight? Go Mustangs!!!

Stallion's observations (if anyone bothers to actually read them with understanding and objectivity) are for the most part accurate! Because we have won two games this year (barely), JJ's Saviour act is taken as a proven reality by the "sunshine be happy" crowd! As stated earlier and more accurately... The proof of the pudding is in the eating?

So King Stallion is accurate, does that mean we shouldn't support the team?

I doubt anyone here has confirmed "Royal Heredity" on Stallion. All of us here support SMU or why else would we expend the energy! And we shall continue to do so, all we ask is that they continue to improve in all areas!

Mitchell Price is not on the list. He was drafted in the 9th round by the Bengals. He had the MNF punt return of the year in 1990. He may have missed the list because he transferred to Tulane when the NCAA decided to destroy a football program.

Stallion wrote:I'm sure an analyst that accurately reflects what is going on in recruiting for the last 20 years concerns the Coaching Staffs, ADs and the Administration we've had since the DP. That was the POINT!!!!!!!!! All these guys have been blowing hot air up your [deleted] from 1989-2008. They should have been exposed as full of crap.
And a list with 7 journeyman NFL Players over 20 years confirms the the accuracy of the analysis
[size=150]I Normally do not agree with Stallion on many things. But on Recuiting, He is so right. If I had my way, One of my grandsons would of never gone to SMU to play football. With LSU Coach and Florida Gators Coach coming to the house, after their recuiters had failed. Each came in the same week and wanted my Grandson to go to their School. Bennett threw a hissy, put guilt trips on him and etc. A Coach that did not know how to use him. He wanted to major in Sport Physiology. SMU does not offer that. Tell me If I am wrong, You have a Son or family member that was #1 TE in Texas, #5 in Nation, and every Championship team in country wanted him? Would you choose SMU, because it was close and could see most games? Don't get me wrong, Once my guys started at SMU, I stood behind them, prayed a lot for the team. My Grandsons will always stand behind SMU Mustangs, and support the school. I feel that given time June Jones will make a difference. But other Families have told me all the promises that was told to them that ended up being crap before June Jones came in.
