Like a player (Derrius Bell) who suffered a concussion two weeks ago would DELIBERATELY put himself in jeopardy again? Please.

Go celebrate at the taco stand. Your team won and both players are alright.

I find it pretty ridiculous that fagnasticator would call us out as thugs. Hey punk, half your team is a bunch of thugs. You, fort worthless and your overrated football program can go straight to hell.

Screw you.

Gag. Christian was spinning to avoid a tackler and unfortunately spun right into Bell's waist tackle attempt. It happens/hope he's okay. Get over yourselves TCU. If you want to be upset, you should be mad about the fact that the staff carried/walked him off the field. You don't do that with head/neck injuries, you get him on a stretcher and take him to the hospital, even as a precaution. Christian was out cold for at least 30 seconds (my guess, over a minute) and was having obvious trouble with leg coordination and balance. Outrageously stupid.

Very scary. I think everybody in the Stadium was ecstatic both were able to walk off on their own steam.

I agree that the helmet-to-helmet was neither intentional nor malicious. But an infraction is an infraction whether intentional or not, and it's supposed to be called. Most late hits on QB's and kickers are also unintentional, but you don't just suspend the rules of the game based on your best guess as to offender's motive.

Having said that, I don't like the helmet-to-helmet contact rule and think it should be jettisoned. Football is way too active a sport with too many variables for a rule like that. If retained at all, it should be restricted to obvious incidents of spearing. Bell wasn't trying to spear Christian. He was just trying to make a low tackle and made helmet contact when Christian made a last-minute body turn.

Can we expect a TCU fan to make an intelligent comment? I guess not. Did you look at the replay? Your player was spun into Bell. Before you talk about players, hard working, undersized players who rely on every pound they have to make solid hits you should do your research. Bell is a class act. Do they teach you what class is in Fort Worth?

If the tackler is already diving toward the ball carrier, and then the ball carrier either lowers his head or gets hit and his head (for lack of a better term) gets in the way, then I don't believe it's a penalty. Fine line, ref's call. Glad they both appear okay.

Ms. Bell:

Please keep a close watch on your son as I know you will. This is beginning to remind me of the exact type of situation that developed causing me to have to stop playing. My doctors and trainer were all grateful when I told them I did not know if I could endure any more of the knockouts, but they were not willing to tell me before hand that I should have stopped earlier. After my career ended, they all told me how I should have stopped playing much earlier and not risked permanent injury. Help him realize that the education he is getting is what will sustain him for the remainder of his life and not a few more football games. I want him on the field if he is healthy, but we can survive without him if it is in his best interest to stop putting his health into jeopardy. Good luck to him on a rapid recovery with or without football.

The moral of the story is you should not lead with your head. It is dangerous for everyone involved. I saw three hits this weekend (was at 4 games) that left both guys down for too long. It should be back to the basics of tackling...head up and wrap up. Players are too infatuated with the big hit.

Thank you for your advice. I think I was very emotional last night and shouldn't have written any comments on the board and regret that I did. Derrius loves the game so much and tries to play so much bigger and it gets him into situation like this. I think he is now concern and so am I. Three hits back to back. He spoke to his brother on last night and they're on the never quit rule. When one is feeling down then the other always talk him back up as to why they play the game. But I wouldn't say that he quit in a situation like this. I just don't know what to say. But he will be okay after last night just a big headache again.
Sorry again for comments made last night and I do apologize to all its readers. I just get upset with that word and would defend any of our players and much less my own son.

MR, Bell, you didn't say anything you have to apologize for. We're just glad that DBell's gonna be ok.

I may be wrong but I believe it is Derrius' mother speaking. Either way, you are correct in stating she/he had nothing to apologize for.
