Bo Levi Mitchell and superbowl

Postby PerunaSpence » Sat Oct 03, 2009 11:19 pm

First off......coach, care enough for your team to cut Mitchell. Yeah it's tough to cut a young guy whos life is football, but its worse to ruin 4 years of students college football years by believing in just one. Your team is amazing, care enough about them to make the tough call.

TCU's coach is a poor sportsman. Saying that playing TCU is like our "superbowl"....not cool. We get excited about this annual game because TCU is our rival, not because of their ranking.

Ask all of the TCU players who got the crap beat out of them tonight......they will all say, "Man those Ponies sure know how to hit."

Pony up!

Yea, the tcu coach is an idiot. Stating that "SMU had two weeks to prepare and we played terrible...this is [SMU's] superbowl."
Coach, I hope you lose the rest of your games. No class.

Made it seem like it was just another game for them but it's our whole season. That is like comparing us to aTm who does not care if they lose all games if they only beat Texas. Not cool as has been stated.

really stretching for criticism of Patterson. He is an outstanding Coach-one of the best in the business. If he made one mistake it was attempting to pass at all in the second half. Really strange call when SMU returned apparent fumble to the 1. He should have run the ball down our gut the entire second half.

Actually, that's a pretty accurate game summary. TCU played its flattest game of the season thus far. SMU played one its best games of the season thus far. Hard to escape the same conclusion GP reached unless you're totally drinking the Pony koolaid.

TCU was not flat in the first half-they were getting out-played-period. And SMU hardly played their best game of the year. Mitchell played probably his worst game and our special teams were abysmal all night.

For Patterson to think that this is our "Super Bowl" is one thing, but to actually say that to the media lacks class and is disrespectful to the other coach and team. And for anyone to think that comment was fine, then maybe you should consider what Kool Aid you are drinking.

But anyway, the Ponies just need to continue to improve so that we can start expecting to win this game every year.

While SMU still hasn't played a complete game well all season, what you saw against TCU wasn't it's best half of football. Not even close. Clearly, we were out-matched and muscled but I came away from the game thinking that we missed a lot of opportunities to make that a close game (within two scores). With this vaunted offense, 3-15 on 3rd down is unacceptable, even against a top 10 defense. At least 2 of our 3 turnovers were dumb-dumb mistakes by our guys and I think only one 1 of our 3 forced turnovers resulted in any points. Absent special teams...dropped easy pick-6...you get the point. Whatever helps you guys sleep at night, I guess.

Meh. Is anyone actually surprised he made that comment? He's obviously still mad at June for forgetting that TCU/Fort Worth were part of the Metroplex and probably had that written on a folded napkin in his pocket for months. I'd expect nothing less from a Class-B a-hole.

It was common is the 1980s for SMU Coaches, players and fans to say the exact same thing. Only difference is that TCU really did play like it was the Super Bowl in those days-they came close to some huge upsets against some of SMU's best teams

Patterson is a whining t*rd. I expect Karma for the fat f later in the season.

Our "Super Bowl" will be whichever game will end up making us bowl-eligible or not. Assuming we get to that point. The thing with Super Bowls is you have to earn the right to play in one.

Case in point - Rice in 2006. We actually had momentum and fans on a road game. We won tailgating. Then the infamous 1st and goal from the one...sure felt like losing the super bowl after witnessing that disaster.
We've never lost the tailgate.

They didn't score at the end but it wasn't for lack of effort, no they didn't call timeout to continue their drive but they weren't exactly taking knees either. I don't give GP any credit for "sportsmanship," but I'm not going to say that he is as bad as Leach either. Leach would have called timeout and thrown a few passes into the endzone.
